Productivity is mine!

It's my day off today, much to the chagrin of my workplace who tried to call me in today. Yesterday was teh suck, and I really needed a day to myself.

H and I did the Thank You cards today. Feels damn good to have that outta the way.

Broke 10K in the NaNoWriMo today. Plan to write another chapter before I stop. Want to get as far ahead as possible when I'm not working, although I have a great schedule for writing this week. All afternoons, so I can stay up a bit and write and still not be tired for work.

[livejournal.com profile] sudrin was just pointing out that the writers strike affects more Americans in their day to day lives than the war in Iraq. Sad but true. Myself, I'm pretty bummed to have to do without Daily Show and Colbert. I'm also pretty bummed about the war, but only one of them will have me flipping through the channels at 11pm wondering what to watch. Heroes fans may have their season finale in 2 weeks, and who knows what this will do for LOST. I mean, whatever would we do if LOST had to start beating around the bush about shit because they have no writers and no one knows what's going on? Wait...

Children of the Living Dead is on On Demand right now. Even though it was produced by John Russo (kidding, probably because of him) this movie sucked ass. Granted, it was the funny kind of sucking, where you can't imagine what the filmmakers (including Tom Savini) were thinking. One of the zombies in the beginning was super strong, and all the people were terrible shots.
You know, I suspect that there are more spectacularly bad movies in the zombie genre than any other. I wonder why that is...maybe because every punk with a Ben Nye makeup kit, myself included, thinks they can make a low budget zombie movie and be the next freaking Romero. Plus zombies are metaphors for things. Problem is, even though good writing is free, they almost never have it in these films. And the only thing worse than crappy dialog, is hearing it crappily acted, which Children of the Dead delivers with gusto.
