That stupid show Friends lied to me!!!!

Went to the Secretary of State office today. It's almost my birthday so I had to update my drivers license and change my name. As most of you know, I've been wanting to take the name Friday legally for quite some time. Right now I just use it socially and on books. So I was pretty stoked to finally get married and be able to do a legal name change to my precise liking.

But no...

They said I can only pick keeping my old name (um...NO.) or taking H's name. I chose H's name, obviously, even though my intention was to hyphenate -Friday. Apparently I have to go to court to do that, and it costs $200. H says we're in a spending freeze right now because the wedding was so "expensive". I don't think it was, but whatever. The point is I won't be able to have Friday in my name legally for the forseeable future. Fie and Dang!

On our way back from Chicago from the honeymoon, we listened to Pink Floyd the Wall in the car. It was really good, and I realized that despite having a huge collection of Pink Floyd, my only copy of The Wall was on *snicker* cassette. Cassette?!? As if. So I'm currently ripping a friend's CD of the aforementioned opera.

Speaking of music, I won a sales contest at work so my boss has to buy me a CD. I picked the new, live Rob Zombie, so I imagine I'll have it next week. I hope it's out already, I want it.

If I could gift you $200 to make the change, I would. Maybe you should take up a collection via PayPal donation!

I still only own "The Wall" on cassette. I bought it in like 1991, for fuck's sake.

Thanks man. That's nice to hear. I imagine it won't take me too long to save up for the change if I start putting money away after Xmas.

The Wall is so damn good, really tasty to listen to after so long of not.

You've always been Wednesday Lee Friday to me! :-]

Thanks! That's just what I needed to hear.

Rob Zombie? I thought for sure you'd want Civil War Classics by Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, or Celtic Fiddle by Jeremy Kittel.

Just kidding. ;-)

I'll have to check out that Rob Zombie when you get it.

I thought about getting the suzuki piano accompanyment CD for SB5. But then I realized that would be stupid.

My wife took my name, even though I told her I didn't care if she did. She just had to change everything over to that, and actually, for legal purposes, it is still "Lindquist" on a few things. I was actually not aware they made people go to court for the hyphenation. My mother-in-law hyphenated hers for years (my wife is the oldest child by her first husband) and I don't think she actually made it official like that. I can ask, if you would like.

I think if I was hyphenating the two names I already had, it wouldn't be a big deal. But since Friday is not legally part of my name, I have to do a court thing to make it legal.

I was under the impression that getting married allowed you to a free legal name change of your choosing, but that's not quite true.

_Animals_ and _Meddle_ are so much better than _The Wall_. Don't get me wrong, I have loved _The Wall_, but after a while, I got burnt out on it. I still roll my eyes when the local classic rock station plays "Happiest Days of Our Lives Part 2" (the we don't need no education song).

If you can find Meddle somewhere online, just download and love it. To me, Echoes is fantastic, but I love the silliness of Seamus and San Tropez.

:)

I have pretty much everything Pink Floyd released, which is why it was so odd that I didn't have The Wall. I do love Meddle, and Animals.

Have you seen the Pink Floyd at Pompeii DVD? It's fantastic, and there's a super long version of Echoes on it.
