In which "Forever" means a little while...

It appears that the majority of my college peeps are blowing off my wedding invitation entirely. Tomorrow is the deadline for RSVP's and I've gotten like, 4 of them out of 80 invites sent. Can you even believe that? I mean, there are plenty of people helping out at the wedding that I know will be there, but I've got to give my final number to the caterer next week. Truth be told, I'm just very sad that so many people give so little thought or care, this wedding is a very big deal to me.

My former caterer had the audacity to call me a "Bridezilla" because I prefer someone sober and reliable. She seems to think it's a hilarious joke, which I do not. Frankly I've about had it with her and all her drunken bullshit anyway.

So I'm not in the best of spirits today and have to go to work from 1-9. Plus I find out if I passed my customer service test. If I did, my job just became infinitely more difficult because I can't pass off tough calls anymore. I have to solve problems and do returns and stuff. Fie, I don't want to. But that's why I make decent money now, because my job is really hard.

Watched Bionic Woman last night. Was it me or did they totally rip off Blade Runner during that fight sequence? Aaron Douglass better have a larger, more compelling role than what we've seen. Otherwise it's just a battle of the pretty girls, which isn't going to hold my interest for long.

Colbert was wicked awesome last night. Sam Waterston AND Tony Bennet. Nice.

It's unlikely that people are blowing off your wedding. It's more likely that they are blowing off RSVP'ing. I had 125 people at my wedding, give or take, and I probably got 20 RSVP's.

People are *BAD* at RSVP's. A 25% rate of return is high, believe it or not. Okay, so you're at like 5%, but still.

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm coming. I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm cooo - mmming! (Probably stag, unless I'm infinitely lucky in the near future. But still.)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? How the hell am I supposed to know how much food to buy? What the heck is amatter with people?

Maybe I just need to calm down.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I pretty much assumed you'd be there, work permitting.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Forget that! Katie Sackoff stole the show. I'm almost bored by the "Second" Bionic Woman. Though to be fair there is a sexual attraction aspect regarding her character which may be "lost" on you. I still think even without that though, from an "Interesting" aspect Jamie Sommers is totally overshadowed by her.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's true. She was by far the most compelling character...shrouded in coolness and mystery and all that.

That RSVP rate is pretty lame, but I bet [livejournal.com profile] lirrin is right, and folks will just show up. That would so piss me off, though. How do you plan if people don't communicate? Double the number of people you know for sure are coming? I don't know.

Um, you assumed I can't make it, right? ; )

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I assumed that.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I hope we don't run out of food.

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally understand your stress ~ it worked in reverse for me. I had sent out 150 invitations, 70 people was my total head count (of peeps who had actually replied) so I added 30 to that and had a total count of 100 -- to compensate for those who might not reply but just show up anyway -- and a whopping grand total of 30 people showed up, yes you read right -- THIRTY PEOPLE.

We were eating wedding cake for a week.

What really hurt was that a "close friend" blew off my wedding to go hiking in the mountains. Hello ~ we live in COLORADO!!! The mountains AREN'T going anywhere! Do it after the wedding (which was at 11:30 am), do it the next day if it was SOOOOOOOO important that it be that one weekend in June, do it early in the morning or some other time than at friggin 11:30 on that particular Saturday!!!! GAH!!

His response, "Well, you will have pictures won't you? I can stop by sometime and look at those."

I was crushed.

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I just had to tell ya that I LOVE that icon!

okay enough babble from me....thank you for paying attention and have a WONDERFUL day. =D

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG that's crazy. My secret fear is that no one will show up and we'll have tons of food left over. We're already going to have almost twice the number of favors we need. I'm gonna be handing them out on street corners or something!

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
u could mail me one =D hehehehe I still have ASS LOADS of favors and bubbles from our wedding. We made and put out bookmarks for our favors because we both love to read...we still have a STACK of them in our basement.

I feel ur pain sweetie.

I figured you had, but I realized in the middle of my rant, that I hadn't RSVPed either. *facepalm*

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Call people and ask if they are going to be there. Like confirming a Dr's appointment. You don't have to be rude while doing so, but it would help you figure out how many people were coming and remind people that they didn't RSVP. I didn't know how big a deal RSVPing was until I got married. I am not sure I ever RSVPed for anything, but since I had my wedding, I will do so from here on out.

We reached a point where we thought we were going to have to call everyone we hadn't heard from yet. In the end we had more than enough and began hoping that people wouldn't come to save money.

Lastly, let me talk to your caterer if it's a problem from here on out. I will explain very clearly and not in a nasty fashion why you decided to go with someone reliable. Hell, blame me, tell her I talked you into it because of all the stress it was causing you. Just send her my way if you need to. Daddy'll take care of everything ;)

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you noted the Blade Runneriness of it all. You DID see my comments thereon?

I heartily concur about calling the peeps who have not RSVPed. I had to b called recently for a wedding as my schedule was hell. I got to use the call to press a client and secure my "release".

Bon chance!

[identity profile] thehula.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I will be there, right? I didn't properly RSVP, but I was pretty sure you knew.

Perhaps under all the food trays you could put a card that says, "Thanks for the RSVP, bitches!" so that when the food is gone, people will know WHY. Haha!

[identity profile] lirrin.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconded on calling people who haven't RSVP'd. Just explain that you need a headcount for food, no pressure either way.

I didn't need a headcount, so the RSVP's were mostly irrelevant, hence not worrying about it.

[identity profile] tinker-baby.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain on the RSVP front. What a pain in the ass! My favorite one from my wedding is a friend of my sister's who ASKED to be invited to the wedding, was extremely late RSVP'ing, she said she was coming and then DIDN'T SHOW UP!!! Our wedding was awesome, but I'm glad all the planning stress is over. Hang in there, it's worth it in the end!

[identity profile] liadra.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
What a PITA! I'd be anxious myself. But it will all work out on the end. Sorry I can't be there! So exciting, and it's coming up so fast! Wow. Okay, enough gushing.

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'd definitely make a very strong effort to be there were it not the case that my own wedding is one week later. I will be sending a gift when I get paid.

[identity profile] bethie8888.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, hell, it's not a wedding until someone jokingly (or not) refers to you as Bridezilla. You are so better off without a drunken caterer anyway.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I'll end up calling people this weekend. Saturday night sounds like as good a time as any.

As for the other thing, I've decided exactly how much crap I'm willing to put up with. Everything beyond that is being cut loose.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I have now seen your post, we were totally on the same wavelength there.

And I'll def be calling peeps this weekend.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
That's the best thing I've ever heard.

And duh, I did know you'd be there. But Mindy, Kevin, Ken, Victor, Denny, Lydia, and Nate Maas have made not a peep. I did hear from Bill Massey though, and sadly he can't come. Vince is getting married on the 20th so he has to be at the rehearsal dinner.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm already guestimating on the food. I just need to know within like, 20 people so I don't end up with six weeks worth of falafel and gyro.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, man.

That's just what I needed to hear!

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Great Mimes and all that...
Good luck with the phone calls!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I know, it's totally soon.
The sooness is freaking me out.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I looked for you guys on Amazon, but didn't see you. I forget where you're registered.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I am actually.
:-]

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] klynnfrost.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be there, of course! Heck - I'm taking the day off just to be available for ya'

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's why you're AWESOME!!!

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want you to feel like you have to get us something. Or, for that matter, something inexpensive like another mix CD would be cool.

If you really want to, you can find where we're registered on our wedding website:

hendricksonandcowen.weddings.com

Thanks!

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
I stole it, shamelessly. Because yeah.

[identity profile] lickingtoad.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
... thank God! I have an excuse not to RSVP until we get civil unions (at least!) :D

[identity profile] sexyrockgoddess.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If it makes you feel better i would love to go to your wedding even though i have only met you once. I think your a wonderful person and would love to get to know you better.:)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Too late!~

We just sent you something!!!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well silly, you should have given me your address when I made a shout-out for them. I invited plenty of Ljers, some of whom I still haven't met.

[identity profile] cmdavi-70.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! How exciting! I should be sending something your way in the next few days.

[identity profile] thehula.livejournal.com 2007-09-29 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Mindy, Kevin, Ken, Victor, Denny, Lydia, and Nate Maas have not peeped? For shame! I would have thought... I don't know. I thought they would be more polite? Bitches!!! But yay for Vince getting married! Bill (last I heard) was dating my very last pledge daughter, the beautiful and smart Marija. But I'm not up on the gossip, so who knows?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2007-09-29 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that's the chick he married. He's having a baby in January.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised not to hear from those guys. Granted, we haven't talked in awhile, but people only have so many weddings.
