At last...a day off.

My first day off as a working chick is tomorrow. My plan is to spend the weekend writing and relaxing, lunching with friends and watching a movie or two. I want to see Harry potter again but everyone I'd go with is out of town.

Work is pretty hard. After all my whining about how I don't need a strong musical background to do this job, I really could use a stronger musical background to do this job. I've got my eye on a Fender mandolin in my endless quest to learn an instrument. I'm finding it quite daunting, the amount of product knowledge I'm expected to know. My trainer says I'm doing well, so I'm probably putting too much pressure on myself (surprise) and could stand to relax. But I'll feel like a complete tool if I screw up this job after being out of work for so long. H keeps telling me to relax and not worry so much. He's a good one, that H.

I'm a bit late with this, but Weekly World News is suspending publication. I can't believe it, not just because I need to know what the aliens are up to, but because I'm shocked that enough people aren't buying the magazine to keep it afloat. I mean seriously, those things are good for a million and one yuks.

And now...the Friday Five:

1. What item would you be embarrassed for people to know you own?

There are probably some movies that reflect badly on my taste, Kingdom of the Spiders maybe?

2. What is something you splurged on just for you?

I haven't splurged on anything in a long while. But I am buying an iPod at the earliest possible opportunity. Yeah!

3. What is something that you own with no real world value that is priceless to you?

My class ring, which was a gift from my mom and her husband.
And my Welcome Back Kotter pillow.

4. Do you collect anything?

Movies, Chick Tracts, action figures/dollies, comic books, gargoyles (though I don't have very many gargoyles, I always want more)

5. What item belonging to a friend/family member do you covet?

Either [livejournal.com profile] lickingtoad or Paul has the Talking Krusty Doll. I also heard that [livejournal.com profile] clockworkmonkey has Kang and Kodos, which I'd figuratively kill for.

Well hell, I own Kingdom of the Spiders. It ain't even close to being the worst film in my collection either. Actually that movie has a lot going for it. In addition to Bill Shatner, the scene where the chick shoots off her own hand is priceless.

Too true. I suppose I should be more embarrassed to own something like Titanic. ;-]

I was surprised to find out Weekly World News was going under. But I admit I very rarely bought it ... mainly because no one I live with shared my amusement and it was no fun to laugh at the stories all by myself.

I remember the story about the woman who lathered up her pits and shaved 'em right in the middle of the office, flicking gobs of foam and stubble around at everyone like it was nothing. HAHAHA. My sisters remember that one too.

I think people may have gotten bored with it because the rag repeated the same stories over and over and over again ...

That could be. I mean, BatBoy is fascinating, but only when he wasn't sleeping with Hilary Clinton.

Maybe they're tired of being sued, like the Enquirer.

What, the WWN got sued? Really? Why would anyone ever bother suing it? It was so obviously bogus!

Hmmm ... has anyone ever tried suing The Onion, I wonder?

I thought the same thing, how do you prove that a rag like that did you serious damage. But even Elvis Presley's estate tried to sue them. I guess WWN were all wrong about what his ghost is up to.
