I can tell what kind of sugar you didn't use...

I am sure [livejournal.com profile] madush69 will be delighted to learn that they are remaking Mostly Martha with Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglass. I imagine I will prefer the original, but this new one looks pretty faithful to the German version.

Right now there are people competing to make the best Disney Villian out of cake, on TV. Even given my general annoyance with most things Disney, I think this is kinda neat. I do have a soft spot for many of the Disney Villians. Brownwen Webber is making Ursula, and she wins all the time at these contests. No one is doing Madame Mym, or Queen of Hearts, or Maleficent. Oh well.

I really don't think I want to see Wil Smith in I am Legend. I think I'll rent Omega Man instead, or maybe Last Man on Earth. I can't believe I don't own those already...

Trying to get some feedback on the serial killer before I proceed. Right now, so many people want to kill him that I'm not even sure who actually will. Oooh, I know. But I'm not telling!

What kind of looter am I? You decide!

Actually I am horrified at the thought. The original is so wonderful, I can't imagine them doing it justice. I'll go see it, but I don't suspect it will have a place on my DVD shelf. The delightful original is there, and that's all I think I'll need.

It kinda makes me sad, because if more Americans were willing to read subtitles, we wouldn't need so many remakes of foreign films.

I know. I was trying to convince Drew about how good "Black Book" was, and he was like, "Do you have to read it?"

Fools!!

I was working for Bbuster when Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon came out, and all people could talk about was how they didn't want to have to read it.

It reminds me of how Beavis and Butthead used to say "if I wanted to read I'd go to school!"

Idiots!

One of the coolest positive stories I have about subtitles actually involves Joe.
When M.M. finally came out on DVD, I bought it and came home to watch it with Joe. He had seen it with me at the Stone, and seemed to really enjoy it. I think he liked Maxime Foerste who is the same age as him.

So anyway, I put the disc in at home and we start watching it, and he says to me, I don't remember this having subtitles, I remember it in English.

I told him that's because the story is so good his brain made it English for him.

That's the thing the narrow minded people don't understand. A good movie is a good movie in any language.

I'm not even sure it's narrow mindedness and it is simple laziness.

Maybe both. Either way, people are missing out on some cool shit.

Wil Smith in I Am Legend. I'll be passing that one by, too, I think.

I know who I want to kill the serial killer! You can probably guess. I can't wait to find out if I'm right. : )

I'm almost certain that you will not get your wish. It's gonna get worse before it gets better...

Well, crap. I guess I'll be rooting for whoever kills him all the more then.

I hope so.
