Well, what the Sam Hell Crap happened here?

There is a giant bottle of pills missing from my apartment. I get my pills from this donation service where the company sends me my pills in the mail. I just got a three month supply of Abilify and it's totally fucking missing. Tearfully, I tore this apartment a new one looking for the bottle. Then H came home and did the same thing. They weren't moved. They weren't accidentally put in the wrong place. They didn't fall somewhere, the cat didn't bat them around, they were not swallowed up by the Earth.

All I can think of is that the maintenance man stole them. No one else has been here except good friends. My friends do not steal from me, so as much as I don't want to blame the maintenance guy, he's the only one who had access.

So, I'm out over $700 worth of pills that I need and certainly can't pay for.
I want to report it to the police, but I don't want police to come here.
I couldn't even call the apartment office because they all left early. Fuckers!

What would you do if you were me?

In better news, the yarn I ordered from Amazon came today. I'm going to try to make myself some slippers after I finish all my hats and the draft of Kitten Claws.

My eating habits have been appalling lately. After my NYE party, I'm going back to my proper habits, maybe buying some veggies instead of the cheesedogs I found on sale. Are any of you coming to my party, BTW? Only a few of you RSVP'd. I still don't know what I'm making, I didn't get any pineapple rings. Anyway, I need to stop living on comfort food.

My phone keeps shutting itself off for no reason. I missed four calls yesterday. Frown.
I'm due for a new phone soon...overdue in fact. H is taking his sweet time about getting it.

OMG!! What kind of crap is that?!?!?! Does your apartment office have a after hours number or a pager number that you can call? That way you can talk to the people who are there. If not, I would suggest writing the whole situation down and leave a message on their answering machine for them to call you ASAP - yesterday if possible ~ So you can talk to them.

Just an idea. Hope this helps.

They have an emergency number, but it's to the maintenance man, and I certainly don't want to confront him directly. I'm really pissed though, and worried about what will happen in the very likely event that I can't get replacements.

Thanks.

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Figures it would go straight back to him.... *rolls eyes*

[identity profile] squamous.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man. The missing bottle of pills, that's awful. Much sympathy. I wouldn't want to call the police either, and accusing someone sucks. Ugh. So sorry.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It's such an absurd situation; and I'd much rather just find them somewhere stupid and not have to deal with reporting it and shit. Grrr.

Yikes! I'm so sorry your pills have gone missing. I don't think I have any good suggestions, just sympathy. I'd be feeling the same way about the cops. Is there any way to contact the maintenance man directly? Somehow ask him if he saw the pills without directly accusing him of stealing them? And, as someone else asked, is there an overnight number for the apartment people?

You might want to tear the apartment apart a couple more times, too. I have a marvelous talent of finding what I'm looking for only on the 3rd of 4th go-around.

Ugh. Good luck! I hope you can find your meds.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to look around again before I do anything. I'd feel really shitty about accusing this guy prematurely. But he was fixing the toilet and said he'd come back and finish the next day. He never did. He also didn't want me to sign the paper saying he'd been here. In retrospect, it's sort of suspicious. So I dunno...

[identity profile] liadra.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Not want you to sign? That doesn't sound quite right, does it. But what would he want your pills for? (I don't know if they have a street value/high giving ability).

Man, what shitty news.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
They are mood stabilizers and anelgesics. So they might have a tiny street value, especially since there are so many. But some people steal for reasons I could never fathom.

[personal profile] groovesinorbit 2006-12-30 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that is kind of suspicious. Why wouldn't he want people to know he'd been there? But it may not be related to your pills, though. Hopefully! *crosses fingers you find them*

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
I sure hope so. But I think if I make a police report I can then file an insurance claim. I can pay for the scrip if the insurance reimburses us.

[personal profile] groovesinorbit 2006-12-30 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense. Ugh, cops in your apartment. That's going to be icky, eh?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I dont' know if they'll even come. I might be able to just call and get a case number. That's what I did when I worked at a gas station and someone stole gas. You just need the number to file a claim.

Here's hoping.

[identity profile] diachrony.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Man ... I hope you *do* find the pills in some weird place and this is all for nothing, but the fact that the maintenance man didn't even want you to sign the paper puts my back hairs up. Grrrr!!! ::heavy scowl::

::crosses fingers hoping it'll work out::

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks man. Worst case scenario, we might make a claim on our renters insurance.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the Earth IS Bipolar.. Perhaps it has need of these pills? ;)

Seriously though, that really sucks.. Could it be used to make some other kind of happy funtime drug like all the stupid Sudafed and the like?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so, but I don't really know.

missing

[identity profile] katharinakatt.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I lose so many things. It drives me crazy.. litterally. But I've started putting everything in its place.. always. So I lose things less now. However when I do lose things its very easy for me to look straight at it and not see it. You might want to keep looking.

The last thing I lost was the drill charger. I tore up the house looking for it. Had hubby do it too. Then accused my inlaws of having it after they borrowed it.. which pissed them off. Then my hubby found it up on top of a shelf out in the open in our living room. It was high enough that short little me wouldn't look up there, but easy enough to have put it there to be out of the way while I looked for something.

Sigh.

Sherlock Homes said the best place to hide something, is right in the open.

[identity profile] everythingtold.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. You may well have to make a report that they're missing - I know you dont' want the police to show up because of several reasons but . . . wow. I would definitely take some action with the apartment managers if you suspect anything like that because they are responsible if one of their employees stole something. And if it's a 'good friend' who did that, I hope they put them back and show themselves.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't a friend, I'd stake my life on it.

Sad thing is I can't do anything about it until after the holiday, and I'm antsy about it NOW.

[identity profile] everythingtold.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying anyone of your friends (many of whom are mine as well) would do that - Im just sayin' I've trusted people for YEARS only to find out they did something awful. Ug. But the maintenence man sounds awful suspicious and I'm sure he's been accused many times. I'm saying this because I worked in a hotel once and maids were always getting accused of stealing. I felt really bad for one lady who did nothing wrong - she thought some money lying on a table was a tip - it was a dollar and change next to a note saying 'thank you'. I mean, come on! I think those people were setting her up, though.

But it's kinda weird - what the hell would someone want with antidepressants/mood stabalizers?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-30 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there are people who would just steal a big bottle of pills whatever they were. My friends know I need my pills, but a stranger wouldn't give a fuck.

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey i've been sick, sorry i didn't RSVP my not coming:( It would have been fun though, to see you and H and Schmave and his new Lady friend...

Wow thats a mind fucker about the missing pills. I'm missing some gold bangles that i've turned the house upside down looking for. I know they don't compare to needed pills, but I wonder what the fuck happened to them! I'd confront the guy I think. Where the pills that someone would want?

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
um what i meant to say was, were the pills the sort that someone would want to take?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The pills have pain killer qualities since they are for that side of depression. My doc says sometimes people just steal mood stabilizers because they think any old one will make them feel better. As if.

Anyway, I'm going to work on getting a replacement and then dealing with the maintenance man.

[identity profile] kissdbyagnome.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
ahhh. good. so i take it you still haven't found them.

hey, did you ever email me your address? did you get my last email? i'm wondering if our emails are going in the place that spam goes to...
