Holiday Wishes, the meme.
Stolen from
locakitty like so many cool-ass icons.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Things I'm wishing for this holiday season.
1. To find a house that wants to publish my first novel.
2. To find someone who wants to publish anything I've written at all.
3. To find an agent who'll go to bat for me.
4. New Horror Icons.
5. I want an iPod, dammit.
6. For JoJo to stop tearing things apart.
7. More loyal readers in
wednes_writes
(not that I don't LOVE the ones I have).
8. For a certain sporadic LJer to stop being such an ass (no, not Nate).
9. Paid LJ time in perpetuity.
10. To get a job I'll love.
Please do comment if you're posting this meme so I can check your list.
Maybe you'll want to be the subject of a short horror story?
In other news, I downloaded the new Weird Al album today. Well, most of it anyway. It's damn good. Of course, if Al has ever put out a bad album, this'll be the first I've heard of it.
I held the tiniest baby in the world today, my Goddaughter, Evelyn.
She weights about 5 pounds and has these giant blue grey eyes that are just amazing.
Maybe I'll post a pic at some point. Not nearly enough people post baby pics around here. ;-]
Oh yeah, nobody forget that H's birthday is December 20th!!!

My list will be up by 2PM and feel free to add me(AGAIN!).
no subject
But feel free to join my writing comm, it may (not) surprise you to learn there's a new zombie story there set in a fast food place.
I'll try to post what I want
Children are amazing. Mostly they are amazing at teaching us just as much as we teach them, and winning a bit of our heart in the process.
Best to you this season..
Re: I'll try to post what I want
I was just thinking that it's been so long since I've seen you. We should endeavor to end up in the same place at the same time soon.
