How do you kill something that has no life?

Well, after waiting and waiting and scooping up tiny bits of LOST info all summer...and waiting some more for the season to finally begin--after all the hype, all the speculation and all the suspense, I can safely say: Meh. Which is a nice way of asking "What the sam hell crap was that?!?" LOST, I've always stuck up for you, but you are trying my patience.

Also, I don't actually like any of the people you are so keen on featuring. Next week I'd rather you focus on the people who aren't annoyingly withdrawn, irritating self-absorbed, or crying like a bitch. Thank You.

South Park, OTOH, was killing me with it's goodness. Whooooo!

not even henry/***?? (dont want to spoil it for others).....i didnt care for him too much until this episode.... but yeah, while i sit in a trance staring at the tv with my mouth open half the time, i wonder how many more questions will arise for each little tidbit they let us in on.

I do enjoy Michael Emerson, as I enjoy him in pretty much everything he does. I'm fairly sure The Others will turn out to be "the good guys;" and we may even enter a Night of the Comet situation where the people you think are the best are actually the most trecherous.

That said, all of that is meanningless without Hurley.

Dang.

I don't partaker of the Lost, but my pal Fileg jus tsaid the same EXACT things about Lost...

Plainly you are both correct.

I'm tired of TV writing cheques its butt can't cash!

Bad shows are one thing, but shows that start out great and then fizzle hugely are positively painful:
First ER, The Dead Zone, then Smallville, even Sopranos was pretty sucky last season...if LOST jumps the shark (presumably with the Dharma logo on it) I will be very upset.

American TV (and comics, and movies) is the problem.

The Brits, Mexicans and Europeans often get it.
Have you seen Ultraviolet (the series not the crappy movie)?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I have not seen it.

I do find that BBC makes some of the best non-pay TV in the world. Truly, some of the best American TV is blatantly stolen from them.

Recommended.
And best to see it without learning anything about it first.

The first 3 are ok to good.
The last three are amazing.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I'll check into it.

[identity profile] leemoyer.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It was recommended to me by the very astute Mr. Keith Baker and unlike every American show that Fox didn't strangle in its crib (Profit, American Gothic, and Firefly somehow leap to mind) it really left us wanting more.

But to reiterate, don't read anything about it first.
I mean read the cast list if you must, but let it be a surprise if you like surprises. :)

I watch Lost. Tonight I couldn't even force myself to actually tear myself away from beading to really focus on it. I found myself not giving of the shit, and thinking "My happy thought would merely be the many ways to kill so-and-so."

South Park ROCKED. I don't even play WoW and I totally got it. :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe if I understood the appeal of Kate, it would be less painful to watch. She's just so annoying, and Jack isn't impressing me much either...

For now, I'm presuming that once they get back to the rest of the cast, things will get more interesting. We only get six eps before the break, so something better happen quick.

I was deeply satisfied with lost. Season premieres are always sucky, so I wasn't expecting much. And in not expecting much, I felt satisfied by the premiere.

There are sOOooOOO many characters on Lost that i'm glad they didn't show what was up with everyone last night. Clearly next week they will be heading to camp so we can see whats up with them.

Though I will say this, when they panned out and showed the "Others" in this utopia type burb in the middle of nowhere, it felt like an episode of Tales From The Dark Side.

Make no mistake, I am glad that we're seeing more of The Others. I get a little nostaligic for the times that Ethan and Goodwin were alive. ;'-\
But in typical LOST style, they didn't answer nearly as many questions as they asked.

Also, I'd really like to know how Rousseau didn't find the prefab home in sixteen years.

Maybe she has, because after all you never know who's who in this show. Who's Good or Evil, a little bit of Both, or just Insane.

They answered where the hell the Polar Bears came from haha. I think it's great Sawyer was in their pen. Then Kate... I actually heart Sawyer as you heart Hurley. Though I do like to see every scene with Hurley in it. He makes you laugh and tugs at the ole heart strings. And I hate that they have Sawyer hooked up with Kate...pooooey!

SooooOOo any who, It's the first episode, I enjoyed this premiere much more then I did last seasons premiere of the show. I think most season premieres fall flat in general. They have to try and pick up where they left off, answer questions, and set up new seasons problems. But I was pleased with this one for some reason. It might be that I just missed my dear sweet Lost.

Admittedly, I'm damn curious to see where this story arc is going.

[identity profile] sudrin.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I must be getting dumber, because I liked it.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-10-05 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I felt cheated at not seeing anyone but the three most annoying characters (well, except Claire and the BAY BAY).
