wednes | Hey, have any of you guys seen Libby?

Long time readers of this journal will know that this has always been my favorite beverage. Of course, it pales in comparison to the juice bar lemonade at La Shish, but that is not a mass produced product. My point here, is that there is a mass produced sparkling lemonade every bit as good as my favorite one and it doesn't cost $5 for a single stupid six pack (not counting the deposit). And that beverage is San Pellegrino Limonata. We've been drinking it in cute little 6.5 oz bottles, six of which cost $2.99. Actually, that is pretty expensive, but I don't drink all that much soda anymore.

Moving on, why haven't pedophiles figured out yet that MySpace is being heavily monitored? And why break the law someplace where you leave a virtual paper trail?!? I know there's a lot of hoo ha about online predators these days, but keeping your kid off the internet is not the answer. Like most things, giving them proper information is the best way to keep them from doing stupid shit, online or elsewhere. That said, the guy in this particular article is not really at fault. While I have a tough time picturing a 13 year old girl who looks 18 in person, it's certainly easy to make that mistake online. I really hate how these stories make it look like the website is the problem, and not the people getting up to all these shenanigans.

In cinema news, dang. Not that I thought Poseidon was gonna be great or anything; but wouldn't it have been cool if it was? Even though I can be very snobby about films, sometimes it's a lot of fun to get swept up in Summer Blockbuster Madness.

Okay, first I'll spare you the suspense and tell you that I wept like a little girl. I haven't cried that hard during LOST since Rose and Bernard were reunited. Poor Hurley. How I heart him...

I don't think Locke and Eko were really at the question mark. I think The Pearl is the psychological experiment, designed to test how people perceive others in a given situation. I also agree with Eko that they are being tested; although I don't beleive that the test giver is neccesarily divine in nature. And what's with the Asian guy having a different name and a disappearing reappearing false arm? Does this involve "the accident"? Is one of them the "Bad Twin"? Who the hell knows?

I predict that Libby will be back, perhaps in Hurley's mind not unlike Dave a few eps ago. I can't imagine that she will be gone without some kind of back story...we know she has some mysteries. But as

uterdic pointed out, she can't be one of the Others as she was at the airport. Or can she? Ultimately, we don't know if that's actually proof of anything. She might not even be dead, she could certainly have passed out and been mistaken for dead--she was on heroin after all. Not to mention that the back story involved a girl miraculously returning from the dead on an island where life extension projects are taking place. I'm just saying...

I also feel compelled to mention that the tailies are dropping like flies. Only Eko and Bernard are left.

And how come nobody is getting sick?
I'll tell you what I want to see in the finale: A Polar Bear. I also want Desmond to find The Pearl and start kicking some people's asses. I'm sure he's just crazy enough to do it by now.

Smallville season finale was tired and predictable. And what's up with Clark and his feathery windblown 80's hair? Please tell me that crap isn't coming back. I really don't want to start carrying a comb in my back pocket again.

It's possible. Years ago I knew a 13 yr old who looked 16, if she had claimed to be 18 it would have been believable.

I'd beleive that. I'm just loathe to say that kind of thing, because some men take that as carte blanche to hit on/make awful comments about very young girls. Someone really needs to get through to these girls and tell them why posing as an adult is dangerous and stupid; but most parents seem to threaten and punish instead.

Yes, the whole subject is one where you have to be very, very careful about what you say in case idiots take it the wrong way. As such some things never - or rarely - get said.

I know a couple of guys who are uncomfortably borderline when it comes to such things, and it really creeps me out. Plus they're the "reLAX, I was just kidding" types. I hate that shit.

But yes, it's much more complex than the innocent young girl and the horrible online predator stalking her right under her parents nose.

I think I would handle it the same as any other parenting issue the whole "it would mean a lot to me if you would just respect my judgement...I want what's best for Louise, as you do. So you'll just have to trust me" sort of thing.

When she argues, you can say "I appreciate that you feel that way, but Louise is my pet and I have to do what I think is right."

Because the issue isn't really about who is right or wrong about a particular care choice. The issue is whose responsibility it is to care for the animal, and it's yours--not hers.

Besides, there's such a thing as giving a pet too much attention.

Loooooosssttttt. At least the two of them can go gallivanting drunk all over the country without their jail time getting in the way of filming. Or something. Ana Lucia I'm sort of glad to see go, but Libby! Libby! Hurley! Oh I can't take any more budding relationships being thrashed to pieces; I may just lose it. (Speaking of which, where is Claire? And Aaron? And Charlie? I always get irritated because the episodes happen over such a small time that characters are constantly turning up missing...)

After it was over, we were discussing the idea that when it comes to Hurley, we can't be sure about anything about his history (or current actions, for that matter) because we now know that he hallucinates. We don't know whether he was ever even in a mental hospital, whether Libby was really there, whether he even won the lottery, whether those numbers were actually the numbers. It's not really fair to him to say that we can't trust him, but we really can't. Anything that we're seeing that's "flashback" could very well be from his point of view and therefore could be completely fabricated. Something to think about...

I think by far the most interesting part of the "question mark" was the camera watching the watchers. So even though they think they got answers, they probably didn't at all.

Also, did you catch the Hanso commercial? So bizarre. Apparently there was one last week, but since they hadn't mentioned Hanso in a bit I didn't catch it. sublymonal.org. I haven't explored it yet, since it was taking foreverrrr and ever and after I cracked that site the official Hanso site it took me to was just as bogged down. I suppose that's what happens when the entire east coast tries to get on one website at the same time.

Completely unrelated: I HATE INTERNET MORONS. All of these people going "aaaah the pedophiles are tricking my daughter!" Well tell your daughter not to agree to meet with random people she meets on the internet because they could very well be crazies. Not that I'm completely faulting the girls (although why people are whoring themselves out to strangers on the web is beyond me), but still. Why, why, why, why is that so hard for people to grasp? It's a rather good rule of thumb, I think, and it's kept me from being abducted and raped in the how many years I've been wandering aimlessly around the internet most assuredly meeting some insanely creepy people. And all of the people still perving around MySpace despite the fact that all anyone ever talks about is how they're monitoring it for that constantly? [headdesk]

I indeed noticed both Hanso commercials. I spent a little time at the Hanso site but like you, I get very bored with the long wait times. Now that I know who Joop is, I figure that's all I'll need until I gt my hands on Bad Twin.

Hurley may or may not have hallucinated Dave of his own accord. Don't forget all the other hallucinations going on around there (Jack's Dad, Kate's horse, soaking wet Walt may or may not have been a hallucination).

As I mentioned, I'm not giving up on Libby being alive.

I saw Bad Twin at a bookstore today, and I was so confused and didn't have time to look because it was by the register and my friend was finished paying. What is it?

Hurley may not have hallucinated him on the island on his own, but we can be rather sure that he did back in the "real world," based on what we've seen. But, then again who knows, really. It's all madness.

Ahhhhh! I want Libby to be alive so badly.

Okay, right. He did hallucinate Dave in the real world. Being a little off myself, I want to chalk that up to the medication.
Or maybe it's Libby's presense that is fucking with his mental health and he will be better with her out of the picture.

Ultimately though, I really want Libby to be alive too. Not just for Hurley, but because Michael should not get away with that shit.

What bothered me most about Smallville wasn't the predictibityof the plot, but all the bad shit that was happening at teh end.

Lana is running off with Zod, who she thinks is Lex.
Cloe is seconds away from being raped and killed.
Lionel is seconds away from being killed.
Martha and Lois are unconsious in a plane being flown by a servant of Zod.
Metropolis fell into complete anarchy after being without power for 1 day.
And Clark is in the phantom zone.

Maybe sometimes not being able to suspend disbelief really isn't the viewer's fault.

Ha! True dat.

Of course, the show has been so crappy all season that without every single character in mortal peril..we have no reason to tune in next season.
