I've decided that it's Chick Lit, because that rings less offensively to my ears than romance novel.
That won't make it any less saucy or fun. We meet our hero, Hazel, after she moves home after her undergrad, and follow her through a tumultuous and amazing journey to happiness. She is smart, sassy, and doesn't understand why she can't find love. People say it's because she is overweight, but those people are idiots, so she sets out to learn the truth. In Chapter the first, we join her the morning she is to meet a new fella for the first time.
I just hope it's not too ridiculously stereotyped.
So far, I like it very much.
PS Marshall is not gay.

'Verlif moved closer to Sanguis, kissing him fiercely and running her tongue over his fangs. His hands set her body aflame as he pulled it tightly against his own while she silently wondered when this had become a trashy romance novel.'
I decided to re-write the passage.

Very fang-in-cheek (if they can do that)
