Bored of the Rings?

Not me! Saw the sneaky previewie tonight, for free at work while drinking schnapps (we had to drink outside, thanks hot, hot boss!) and eating pizza, with H even. It was a humdinger of a time.

You know how you watch a lot of movies based on books you loved? Afterwards you may think...that movie was pretty bad. And sometimes it goes so far as to make you like the books less, because you can't read it without picturing the terrible actors in your head, and you can't even buy a new copy of the book without stupid actor faces on the cover (no offense to my acting readers).
You may say to yourself...why do they try to make movies out of fantastical books at all?

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is why.

You don't need anymore info. Just go. Okay, prepare to see Viggo at his sexy best; and avoid the large soda, it's a pretty long film. Battle scenes, magic, groovy special effects, and lots of great looking men: both good and evil.
And if you see it at Ann Arbor Madstone, I'll be giving your curtain talk all weekend long.

GODDAMMIT!

Faramir does WHAT now?

Goddammit! I can overlook the dwarf-tossing joke in The Fellowship of the Ring, but this shit totally fucks up not only the social dynamics of the Gondorian sub-plot, but also the moral blood of the myth!

Aah! Goddammit!

I'm glad of the advance warning. The entire movie theater would otherwise have rung with the echo of my screams of outrage this Saturday.

Also, Goddammit!

And you caught the bit about the elves showing up in arms to Helm's Deep . . .

Good. Yeah, wanted to warn you on that one too. And more dwarf tossing humor to come!

Don't cringe too harshly -- it's far better the second run through.
