Yes, that will be fine, thank you.
I don't know whose been sending me the good cat vibes, but you's did one helluva job. I guess this is when online networking with other witches and such really helps out in a pinch. What am I trying to say is, well...
Pentelope is back home and she is okay.
Yeah...who saw that coming? Not me, that's for damn sure.
About a week ago, I noticed that her urine was really dark. I was concerned because the same thing happened to Clarence when she got sick. She hadn't been eating much and had been fairly lethargic. When I woke up yesterday morning, she was hiding from me and wouldn't come out. A little while later, she was lying in this really wierd position with her head down on her chair. (yes, my cats each have their own chairs--What? You wanna fight about it?) I totally panicked because Clarence did the same thing just before we took her to the vet. And I touched Pente's nose and it was bone dry. So I made arrangements to take her to the vet.
They gave her a regular physical and a basic blood workup. Because she is a snarling sphere of claws if anyone tries to hold her down or pick her up, I got to pay $35 to sedate her. Turns out, they think she has a urinary track infection, (they aren't sure since she um...gave them a urine sample all over herself, and they couldn't test it, but that's what they think based on the symptoms. I'm supposed to give her these tiny pills twice a day for the next week. I haven't quite figured out the logistics of that yet. They told me how to give a pill to a regular cat, so I thought I could get a chainmail suit or something and modify it for Pente. All and all, it cost $130 which a girl in my group loaned me so I can pay her back in small increments. So that was also pretty cool.
I think I was still so upset about Clarence that I just wanted to do something, anything different than last time because I thought I'd fucked her over so badly by letting her get so sick. But as many of you reminded me, I need to relax a little and understand that sometimes you can do your very best and still fail. And a wise person will not let such an experience sour them from facing the future with the same zeal that...oh, fuck it. You know what I'm trying to say here, right?
Anyway, I'm just so happy that she is home. And so giddy and weird because I've been awake since 7am yesterday morning.
So I think I'm going to go to bed now.
I'll see all you crazy cats tomorrow.
And remember always that in the story of Wednes and Pentelope, Feeling the Love made all the difference.
So for tonight at least, the city remains safe...

We're pretty happy about it.
What's even better is that she will take her pill if I put catfood gravy on it. So I don't have to traumatize her twice a day to give her pills.
Something about that makes me say...

Todd has asked me to have a gathering soon (in so many words), so I may do that. I know you are difficult to schedule with, but I'll plan around you as I miss you that much.
When's good for you?
Oh, and my best wishes to you and your lottery ticket. ;-)

(Anonymous) 2006-02-22 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)my cat kept getting the urinary infections so i began buying the special urinary tract food. when i was poor i bought the urinary stuff from walmart (in a hot pink bag.) now we have other issues so we are buying prescribed stuff from the vet...but i'm digressing. good luck, i'm so happy she's okay!

As of yesterday, we've switched to the Purina One urinary tract formula. Although esthetically, I prefer not to buy any foodstuffs with the word "urinary" on the package. Que sera'
Happily, she ate her pill this morning just mixed with a bit of canned food. Hopefully she will continue to do that.
