From Hells Heart, I Stab at Thee...Would-be Scarf!

Damn! Damn! Damn!

I messed up the scarf for H. It is unsavable and must be begun again from the beginning.

According to this confusing-ass crochet book for beginners, I forgot to do a "turning chain" for the new row. As such, my line of single stitches kept getting smaller and smaller. Plus I have a hard time figuring out what part is the top, because it was getting all curly... and not a bald and hilarious curly.

Plus, doing just one row takes like, fifteen minutes and hardly looks like anything at all. I worked on it for 2 hours and just had this tiny, curly mess. I suck so bad.

Is there an easier stich than the single stich, or does it just not get dumbed down any more than that?

You win this round, Yarn-Related-Arts!

Sigh.

While I'm here though, please enjoy A Christmas Story in 30 Seconds by Bunnies. I advocate these Angry Alien folks highly. So if you haven't been watching them, get on over there!!

I'll ask Cathy if she has any knitting advice. She made a sweater this weekend, and may have some valuable tips.

I think I'm abadoning the project until I get my mountain of baking done. Tonight is chcolate/peanut butter cookies and blueberry oat breads.

And this would be why I knit. Crocheting gives me fits. :P

So knitting is easier than crocheting? I always thought crocheting was pretty easy already.

[identity profile] roane.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's easier for me, for some reason. Some people find crocheting easier. I think for me it has something to do with all of the stitches being visible right there on the needle, unlike crocheting, which is harder for me to see.

I think I've got to learn how to knit.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense to me. I'm having a terrible time find the stitch. Or maybe it's a right brain/left brain thing?

And I just noticed your LJ 'name'. "The Court Jester" is one of the best movies EVER. :)

Thanks for noticing.

Maybe I'll try that next. I need to figure something out soon, or H will be having a very cold neck this season.

If you want to set some time aside for serious crocheting let me know. I'll get some more yarn for my scarf and we'll whip them out.

I remember years and years and years ago I was dating this girl who was into these so called yarn related arts. She was making a sweater which I constantly told her she was making for me. She denined it saying it was for someone else, but I didn't believe her! In the end, it wasn't for me. She never did make me a sweater, so believe me, Tiny Curly mess or not, its pretty cool if you ask me! :)

Oh, that's cold blooded.

[identity profile] thehula.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I like a double stich on a GIANT hook. Wow, that sentence is just plain wrong. Anyway, scarves go faster if you make them like a big long strip of afghan instead of a really long dish cloth.

That makes sense. I'm going to dig around through this book I have and see what I can do.

Thank you, Hula Bunny!

The Bunny Christmas Story made my cry with laughter!!!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-12-16 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. And there are so many of those, and they are all damn funny. I guess it doesn't hurt that they are all movies I love to death!!!
