Wow man...
Well, it is 3am and everyone from the party is gone.
Here's who came:
kindofblue328 Who was a first time gathering-er. He ate the vegan food, and was a delight to see.
klynnfrost Who is kind of like my hero, plus she brought a cool card.
lickingtoad Too clever for me to intimidate. Also a very cromulent wordsmith. It was swell to see him.
pak_man78 Who drove in from out of town, AND got me Devils Rejects, but forgot it. And I see far too little of him.
slapnticklejr Who was really funny and had a camera with him. Also gave me a cool card.
smarbaby Made me a card I can ebay someday for a google of dollars; if I'm ever so hard up I have to start selling off my things. Plus she brought yummy brownies.
sudrin Who drove in from even farther than Paul and got me gifts so cool I don't want to say what they are because you would all be jealous. Okay, it was the first seaon of LOST and the souped up version of Batman Begins. Plus it was awesome to see him.
uterdic Who made his second appearance at a
wednes birthday party. He has a utility belt.
We had a very fun time, and did all the usual debauchery with one exception. I often smoke weed at these parties, and all five (that's right kids, FIVE) hookups turned sour on me. One of my best friends even called to yell at me because he didn't get weed and then didn't come to my party.
I know... what a dick!
I must say honestly, that because I invited people to my shindig over a month ago, and 2/3 of them didn't show up, I'm bummed. It makes me suspect that I have become less likeable or something. But maybe more people are all just selfish jerkasses than I originally realized. I don't have parties very often anymore, and I miss them. I also had it a week early so as not to interfere with the holiday, to basically no avail.
And FYI to the guy who said he'd be stopping by after the movie: Everyone waited around for you and you didn't even bother to call. So thanks for that.
Anyway, I'm sure it goes without saying that it hurts people's feelings when people don't come to their parties.
I wonder what it says about me that I'm more bummed that 12 or so people didn't come, than I feel happy for the people who did show up. We did have a fun time, I just feel like people don't care so much these days. Oh well. I am 35, maybe I should just get over it or something.
I just feel very sober and very sad. But then, I'm very old and not very successful.

I won't be having another party for a good long time because they are expensive. I also feel less obligated to host parties for my buddies like I usually do.
But I'm sure this feeling won't last long, since I love throwing parties.

I've organized plenty of things that had low turn-outs, and it was tempting to see it as a reflection of me, but in reality, people had legitimate reasons for missing and made it out some other time. I've too often had to RSVP in the negative to people I would absolutely love to spend time around.
But yes, the ones who didn't bother to call or said they were on their way and didn't show up should be feeling bad this morning--not you!

I guess in some way its quite egotistical to assume people didn't show up because they hate me. Not everything is about me, I guess. I was especailly bummed because parties are expensive and I cooked considerably more than was neccessary. So it was a wallet hit as well at a time when I have very little tolerance for fancy spending...particularly when I'm trying to shop for Christmas.

I love you and I am glad you are one year more on the planet. I'm coming to MI for a few days for Christmas, but I'll prolly have to catch you in March during my X-TheMitten Tour.

I'm in touch with far too few Alpha E's anymore. I don't know why, as I'm really easy to find and reach. It's too bad we don't have that main site with the contact info anymore. Gayla was doing such a good job with that for awhile.
Oh, and I will clear the entire month of March for you. ;-)
Let me know when you're coming.

You're awesome and 35 is the new 25 dammit!!!

Ha! That's totally true.
Thank you for your kind words; I do suspect that some people were just being dicks. Others, I think, see me so often that the party just was not so important to them.
I think I'm just moody because there's no pot around here and I'm not practiced in being sad without it.

I am, however, seeing Harry Potter again tomorrow. If you're not working, it's the 3pm @ Showcase.
BATMAN BEGINS
First of all, if you haven't, add me to your friend list. Second, I've never really been into comics, but I saw Batman Begins today, and it is the greatest movie I have ever seen...makes me want to get into comics!
Smarbaby, I completely understand what you meant about this showing a realistic hero!
What I love about the movie is the social-political message(seems very socialist), the philosophy (a lot of it Buddhist, at least in the beginning) in the dialogue, is it just me, or did you notice this? I am going to buy it soon as I have a chance.
Just thought I'd let ya know, can't wait til the next party.
Re: BATMAN BEGINS
Sincerely,
Bruce Wayne
Re: BATMAN BEGINS
wow! you acknowledge his multiple personalities and that doesn't scare you off?

plan
I swear it works.
Then again, I guess you could fake moving away and then just 'appear' for 'visits' a few times a year.
