Writing all weekend.

I normally am out and about on the weekends, or else having people over. But this weekend I'm cocooning it up at home trying to get ahead on my word count. It's coming right along, but I forgot how much discipline this sort of marathon writing requires. It's kind of like forgetting painful tattoos are until you go get another one.

Next weekend, of course, I will have much less time to write due to seeing Harry Potter and having my 35th birthday party. Actually, it is not my 35th party but it is to celebrate the monumentous occasion of my own bad self actually NOT kicking the proverbial bucket before turning 35. Gooooooooo me!!

Anyway, after this SVU rerun, I'm going to sugar myself up and try to get a bite on Chapter 10.

So, how old are you turning?

And look at your number!! See, you have a much smaller daily quota than I do. Of course, that is also my own damn fault for not writing for a week.

Do you ever get to the point where you just want to panic about the writing?

Last year, I did at least 2K a day so I was very bummed to be averaging more like the reccomended 1667 a day. But last year I had alot of personal experiences to draw from, and a lot of chapter and scene ideas thought out in advance. So the trade off of making up more horror is that it's going a bit slower. And yes, I have many moments of sheer panic. Panic that it sucks, that it is trite and unconvincing, or that I will never be able to tie everything together in a meanningful way.

But it beats watching network TV.

Oh, and I am in fact, turning 35.

Undine was home this weekend. I thought, "Cool! I have Saturday night off. We can go to dinner, see Mirrormask, grab some ice cream, cuddleup, pet the cats, laugh & giggle, yadda yadda yadda."

You know what we did? After her day of puppetterin work and my day at CineHell?

Yes, we slept --- she on the futon, me in the bed, each curled up with a cat.

Somehow, I think Hef's Saturday nights are more, uh, intoxicating.

Maybe, but ours are much more comfortable. I mean, who wants to be surrounded by bottle blondes all the time.

Oh wait, maybe you do. ;-)

Certainly, Hef's place is The Happiest Place on Earth.

I would stay in Chateau Brunette. ;-)
