Asshats, cleaning, and homemade goodness:

Right now they are showing the season one finale of LOST. If you haven't been watching LOST, you are missing out on the single best new show of last season. New season starts next week, and I'm pretty stoked.

I got a cool package in the mail today from LJ's own [livejournal.com profile] lirrin. Many thanks to you, BTW. I'm sorry to say one jar did not survive the long journey. But I'm pleased to say that said jar was not the pickles. Sadly though, there will be no pomegranites for H and I this season. Everything else made it fine and looks wonderful. There was also a tiny little purse made of beads. It's exceptionally cute, and clipped to my own purse right now. Thank you so much! Oh, and how long should I wait to eat the pickles?

Later today I have to clean, this entails putting away laundry and dishes, swiffering the floors and vacuuming. Cleaning the toilets and maybe putting in one of those giant pill things to keep it clean. I'm worried that if someone leaves the seat up, Pentelope will drink the water and get sick. Will the bleach smell keep her from drinking it? I'm unsure.

I also want to write a short story today/tonight. I realize it's been three weekens since I last wrote one. I want to keep much more on top of the writing thing than that. I've had some decent ideas, but haven't done much with them. Shame on me.

And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fflo:

How Wednes learned to stop worrying and defeat the zombie collective. And you can too!!

There's this asshat over at [livejournal.com profile] simpsons_obsess who'se been arguing with me for over a day that the Simpsons sucks. He's really starting to go insane now, and I must say it's hilarious.

I just finished watching all episodes of the first season of Lost last night. I only saw about a quarter of them, if that, when it was broadcast. I thought it was really really entertaining. It kind of made me think of... OK, there is this Triumph the Insult Comic Dog segment where he is abusing people waiting in a Star Wars line and he tells one guy something like, "You look like some kind of super-nerd. It looks like you were built in a laboratory out of parts from lesser nerds." That is what Lost made me think of, like someone took all kinds of interesting elements from other TV shows or TV show ideas and put them together into one really interesting show. It's like Survivor except the contestants can actually kill one another.

Ha.

have you drawn any conclusions about the island? I'm leaning toward nanotechnology myself.

spoilers for season 1

[identity profile] squamous.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hrm no real conclusions yet... I feel like something 'supernatural' must be at work, given how those numbers led to prizes being won. Also seems like maybe the island wants to draw in women who are about to have babies. But I think the "others" (I'm assuming that's who the characters in the sketchy boat were at the end of the finale) were after Walt, not Claire's kid. I also wonder if Sayid is or will be somehow recruited by the others, considering both his flashbacks revealed him being something of a double agent, albeit for good reasons. Does Walt have some kind of psychic powers...? Where did polar bears come from? Who built the hatch? What the heck was pulling Locke underground?? I want answers! Also I don't really like Michelle Rodriguez for some reason but oh well. I hear Adebisi is gonna turn up and he will make up for it.

There is a line of thought (Stephen King subscribes to it, among many others) that we are all psychic at birth and learn as we grow older to hide it from people. So gradually we forget how to use it. I think that is correct.

Anybody's guess on the polar bears.

what's nanotechnology?

n/m, i suppose i CAN look it up myself :), ...can't wait til next weds! :)

If you have time, find and read the Crichton book, Prey as it explains it in an entertaining way.

I'd put a note on he toilet reminding people to put the lid down.

[identity profile] lachupacabra.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
good idea!!
:D

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess it is too much to ask that guest simply excersize common courtesy. I'd better put up a note reminding them.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
You can at least count on other cat lovers to close the lid.

[identity profile] lachupacabra.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
chances are likely a bleachy smell will drive her away from it
but just in case, you can always do what i do: bitch @ everyone
who ever comes over to shut the damn lid!!!
;)
(poustaki will fall in if i leave mine open)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds about right.

[identity profile] lirrin.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ew, I hope the broken one didn't make too big a mess. I suck at packaging. Sorry about that. I'll send you a replacement someday, wrapped in a whole roll of toilet paper. :)

The pickles are fine to eat any time. Officially, their six week "pickling" period ends October 6th. I've already been eating them, so what do I know...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
No worries, I almost licked jelly off my finger and then stopped myself at the realization that it might have broken glass in it. Oops!

I think I will try my best to wait until Oct 6th.

And of course: many, many thanks!

I think whoever sells the Lost DVDs has a deal with Netflix---Netflix, according to my theory, has agreed to buy comparatively few copies. Disc 1 has been on "very long wait" status since it came out. Ya'll Lost fans have sold me, but I'm afraid I won't have a chance to watch season 1 before the new season's far underway, and the temptation then will be to blow the whole thing off.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Understandable. I think the first season is almost $40, so it's no small change for working folk. I'll be picking it up eventually. And when I do, I'm sure it will make it's way to you.

[identity profile] savidge.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for that thread on simpsons obsess.
You smacked around that 'tard pretty good.
It was good entertainment to go along with my coffee & egg sandwhich.

As far as my opinion on the State of the Simpsons, it rocks, and
it always will. Sure, I find some newer ones flat, but there's always something to chuckle at.

I was surprised how early the season started this year.
Does this mean that it'll be over by November? ;)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I sure hope not!

I too was surprised to get even a pre-Halloween season premeire, since we hadn't had one in awhile.

That community makes me wary ...

Most of those kids just seem to post random, favorite quotes. I prefer to _speak_ my random, favorite quotes; this is why I miss [livejournal.com profile] wednes and [livejournal.com profile] pak_man78. They don't make me look like somebody with a bizarre, very specific 'pop culture Tourettte's.'

Re: That community makes me wary ...

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-09-16 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoy to have random funny quotes pop up on my f list. My list is damn long. I also get the occasional calvin and hobbes feed and stuff.

But yeah, as you may have read, some of those kids are outlandishly stupid. It's no wonder they don't find Simpsons funny, they aren't old enough to know most of what's being parodied and are too dense to get the smarter humor. Oh well.

I just realized that last comment was a gramaticaly nightmare. Sorry 'bout that.
