I forgot to mention that yesterday was the birthday of the lovely and powerful fictional witch Ginny Weasley!

Today, of course, is the birthday of that goddamn Sith Lord. If you're reading this, Palpatine, you are a bad man. A VERY bad man.

On a less frivolous note, I must mention the untimely death of Matthew McGrory. Horrorfans know him as Tiny Firefly in those kick-ass Rob Zombie movies. Nerds know him as Karl the Giant in Big Fish. I wonder if he is in heaven now, having a long chat with Andre the Giant.

As yet to be determined Sopranos news. More episodes could be good, could be an excersize in annoyance.

In TV news, Dead Zone was surprisingly good and actually advanced some plot to boot. Of course I am biased because the ep happend to contain Danny Masterson. As I have said many, MANY times: I'm just wild about those Masterson boys. And like Tom Welling, they are basically H's age, so it's cool.

I spent a crazy amount of time today blowing bubbles for Pentelope. A while back, derekfz and miseryintruder sent me (among other things) this cool pen that was also bubbles and a ink stamp of a witch stirring a cauldron. It was an all-purpose Wednes gift. And so I was playing with it. Pentelope loves bubbles. It's pretty funny because she can't figure out where they go.

Why do these characters have birthdays?

Okay I get Palpatine, it's the actor’s birthday. But the other one, is it mentioned in the books somewhere? Should I set my army of flying monkeys the task of reading through them all? Should I stop sowing pigeon wings onto the back of endangered species of monkeys?

I dont' know that the books mention the specific date. It's on Jo Rowlings website, which I frequent as it is a lot of fun.

I'd have to say it's part of building a complete character. This is especially nessesary because of the magic involved, the fact that they are kids (kids love birthdays) and the fact that it deals with the cycle of the year.
