Clarence Update:

Hi all,

I talked to the people at the animal hospital this morning. Clarence did not throw up all night and seems to be reacting well to the fluids they are giving her. She is scheduled to be intebated today and they will feed her through a tube for a few days and see how that goes. Hopefully there will be more lab results today so we will know more. Does anyone know anything about diabetic cats? That is one of the things they are looking in to.

They keep telling me not to worry, but that might be because I'm calling so much.
I'll be getting another update after 4pm as her surgery should be over by then.

I really appreciate all the good wishes and monies people have sent.
Many of you have been quite wonderful about sending us kitty love.

The unpacking is almost done, just a lot of arranging and figuring out where things will go.
I have so much random crap.

Does anyone want a tiny dartboard with tiny darts?

How about two strands of Xmas lights made of large, 5-pointed stars?
(H doesn't like them, so I'm not putting them up even thought they are great)

I'm holding onto the Lost in La Mancha poster for Matt F until the housewarming, then it goes back up for grabs.

Also, I can't find some of my Harriet Goldhor Lerner books. If I've laoned them to one of you, please let me know so I can stop looking.

I also managed to lose my Cuisinart blade which will cost $30 freakin' dollars to replace.
So I hope it turns up somewhere.

Glad your kitty is ok :)

I assume it's safe to send the book now?

It is indeed safe to send the book. I am getting my mail just fine here. Thank you.

It is a bit too soon to say that Clarence is okay, but I am feeling better about this since yesterday. I'll know more in a few hours.

Here's what seems to be a good overview on diabetic cats: http://www.felinediabetes.com/newdiag.htm. It's definitely a treatable disease in kitties.

Wow, that is great information, though I can't say it makes me feel any better about this possibility. No sense getting frantic about it until i know for sure, I guess.

Thanks much for the info and the donation.

I'm glad that Clarence is doing a bit better! I'm sorry that's so expensive for you and I really wish she wasn't having problems at all. It sounds like they're (and you, of course) taking very good care of her.

We were verry lucky to find a good place that would see her right away. I'll know more in a little while.

Glad that Clarence is getting better. And I've cleared everything so I can be at your housewarming. Excited=me

[livejournal.com profile] mrbluebery is diabetic and has been for 2-1/2 years. I give him insulin twice a day, and have to be careful about what he eats, but kitties can live happy healthy lives for a long time after becoming diabetic. If it turns out that is what is wrong with Clarence, I recommend joining [livejournal.com profile] sugarpets and sharing your concerns and asking questions of other people that are there now or who have been there in the past. If nothing else, it's a good support group of people who understand. Don't be afraid to ask your vet all the questions you can think of. You will feel better, and your vet will be understanding. I was a MESS when BB first got diagnosed, but 2-1/2 years later it's all routine.

You'd think I'd know how to spell my own cat's name correctly. [livejournal.com profile] mrblueberry

Thank you for the information. I have no idea what's going on yet, but it does seem like such a thing would be managable if I can find the financial means (I've been on disability for a few months now).

I may have to find her a more suitable home if I am unable to give her the care she needs, which I would hate. But I need to not be selfish about it and just make sure she is taken care of properly.

Again, thank you!

jen's kittycat dee is diabetic.
she gets 2 insulin injections every day & then a treat right after.
