Conspiracy Theories? Moi?!?

House voted to EXTEND so called "Patriot Act".

Am I the only one who finds is suspicious that this second string of London bombings took place on the same freaking day as the vote to extend a perfect model for the future erosion of all the rights that are supposed to make this country better than anywhere else in the world?!?

Does anyone honestly beleive that the same terrorists we fear (and my feelings on that business are abundantly clear even though I can't seen to locate them in my woefully undertagged journal) are repeatedly bombing commuters in London? I mean obviously someone is...but can anyone explain to me just what the hell is going on there.

Dammit, now I'll never fall asleep.

I hate the news.

This morning London police shot a man to death for wearing a heavy coat while running from the police.

Waitaminute, since when did the bobbies start carrying guns?

That's what I said. Some dude they interviewed said that in the past few years it's become more and more common.

The Terrorists "WIN" when we loose all our freedoms. So far, the Terrorists seem to be doing a pretty good job of winning. Our so called "War on Terror" seems to have done absolutely nothing to protect anything but perhaps war profiteering.

Don't panic

There was some quote sometime a while ago by some dude who said something like only fearing fear itself. Well, the govt and the news and everyone is doing a very good job of trying to make everyone afraid.

Well sure, frightened people are easier to control.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but it's scaring the shit out of a lot of people.

I'm too frustrated to discuss it right now.

And I'm staying in Europe where I can be free. :P

Feel free to move.

Eh, I was all about leaving the country at one point, but I think those of us who don't agree with the current government have a responsibility to stick around and fight the system. If we run away, we aren't making the world a better place. We're only making our personal lives easier. We should be firm and stick to our beliefs and express why we feel the way we do.

of course, if we do that with the current govt, we may get put away and never see our day in court.

I'm not running away...I'm still a registered voter and DO vote in each election. Kinda cool like that. :P

Ha.

You know what though, I really do love this country. I love the concept of a legally mandated free exchange of ideas. I love that we are supposed to have freedom of religion and of the press. I hate that a few tyrants are trying to take all of that and spin it for thier own sinister purposes.

[identity profile] vjsmom.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm with you on all that. I, too, love this country, and what those in power (and the seemingly mindless masses that support them) are doing to our freedoms make me sick. Angry and sick.

"makes" (I forgot to use my own mind and proofread. oops.)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's really it in a nutshell. I get to feeling worn out from so much frustration with what's going on. I feel like I can't do anything about it.

Supposed to and actually having them are two different things.

So far I have all of these things in Europe...and they are actually true. Weird huh? America was founded to get away from the exact same problems (give or take) that they are now imposing on themselves now. Like the ol bumper sticker goes...those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.
