My day:

Went to my job thing today, which only lasted two and a half hours when they told me it would take four. It was some kind of test by Harcourt and Brace with a zillion different parts, some of which seemed farmiliar.
First, the general interview which is the same basic intake they seem to do everywhere.
Next, basic math. A test consiting of questions ranging from 1+1 (I'm serious, that was the first question) to some kind of crazy calculus I never got far enough in school to take.
Then, A bunch of general knowlege questions I felt damn stupid for not knowing. But I'm sure I did okay there.
Later, we did some thing where you arrange blocks to make patterns.
There was a drawing thing where you copy patterns on paper, a thing where you organize scenes in cards to put them in order, a couple of questions about how the world works (why do we pay taxes? Why do people go on probation? etc), and a handful of long questionaires. I get the results back in a few weeks, so we'll see how it goes.

Then, I went over to Hollywood video to wait for P to pick me up. And inexplicably, H was there buying DVD's since they were having a sale. He bought me Open Water (yum), About Schmidt, and this years best Original Screenplay winner. All for only $25. Keen, no? He bought himself Hero (which I still haven't seen), Sky Captain, Anchorman, the Village, and Ghost in the Shell 2. Unlike much of the world, we loved The Village.

Had an Angus sub from subway for lunch. I'm inspired by the 5 pounds I've lost recently.

I'm also a bit curious to know why every non-Dan-named person who works at Village Briarwood is a total ass to me when I go in there to see movies. Anyone who has any information regarding this should feel free to contact me poste haste.

I still haven't redone my Elephant Story yet, but I have plenty of time to meet my word count for this week.

And from the "Duh?" file, here's this little gem: No more state sanctioned murder of children! You think it's an anti-abortion story, but it's NOT!

Last, we turn to our "I can't beleive it happened in my lifetime" file with Some sort of Hobo Humping Robo Babe. That's Robosapien, to you Bender fans.

And that test thing does what exactly? Does it get you a job(like it's company sponsored?) or does it point you in the right direction?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-03-01 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an employment assessment that is the first step in working this program to get a better job. it's a state sponsored job program for people with special needs, which I am officially because of rehab.

Basically, it's going to help me find short term employment for now, and funding to get my teaching degree for a "real" job.

Oh, that's so cool! Good luck! :)

sounds like a job interview at Family Video

sounds like a job interview i had at family video once...i failed the test. a guy who worked there said not to feel bad because he knew of a teacher who failed (uh hello i've been a teacher.) so to sum it up, i can teach...but i can't work at family video.

i loved the village as well (but i like river p.'s baby bro.)

LOL

I had to take those exact tests twice: first, to try to get into my elementary school's gifted program (I failed), and second to determine if I was crazy or not (I guess I passed that time because they didn't give me new medication). I found the whole experience sort of fun. I'm lame; I like taking tests.

Good luck with all that!

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-03-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it feels like a combination of different tests I've taken for different things, for smarts, for crazy, to see if I'll steal or be a dick on the job...that kind of thing. I dont' usually do well on those sly personality things, so we'll see.

I still have yet to see open Water

On a scale of 1-10 what do you give it?

by the way- I want to see the sharks.

I did link to my Open Water entry. I'd give it and 8 or a 9. I like how it's done without any FX, but it's a bit of a letdown that you don't "actually" see the attacks.

They all think the two of us are a bit odd, so therefore, being our close friend, you must also be a bit odd.

About Schmidt is one of the better films I've seen during the last couple years. I just received I Heart Huckabees as a gift and am looking forward to that one.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-03-02 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I like Schmidt a lot, as well as it's hipster equivalent, Love Liza.

Let me know how Huckabees is, I haven't seen it.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2005-03-02 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I haven't really been trying, it's just magic I guess.
