Things, Life, Whatnot:

I just noticed that I haven't posted in a few days. My LJ calander has still not flipped to February yet, so I'd better take some time to catch everyone up.

I have not had any pot in the house since Sunday. As such, I have not been high since Saturday night, when I got pretty high, I must say. I'm feeling okay so far, not too jumpy and I've been able to sleep, though I'm terrified to have even a sip of caffienne for fear of insomnia. I still have another week before I can see the doc to get meds. I'm guessing I will get Zyprexa but I don't know for sure seeing as how I know nothing about meds for PTSD.
Tonight I went back to that dual group. We did reiki meditation, so that was 2 meditations for me today, having already done one in the morning. Other than that it was kind of a waste. I mean, I think I helped another woman, and that made me feel a bit less losery. But I don't think that's really the point of group, or maybe it is. I guess I don't really know. I did figure out who was breathing beer on me though, because she did it again this week.

H and I went to see Hide and Seek this week, because I was in the mood for something under 3 hours. I thought it would be weakly scripted but have great performances well worth the money we would spend. And I was dead on. The plot itself had only one good twist, which has since been ruined by the TV spot. The subplots are very thin, as if a few scenes had been cut maybe; and almost every character is a red herring. It was creepy, atmospheric and did indeed have excellent performacnes by DeNiro, Dylan Baker, and that Dakota Fanning girl who is voicing Fern in the new Charlotte's Web movie. Surprisingly, I didn't recognize Amy Irving at all and didn't even know it was her until the end credits. And I wanted a lot more information about the couple next door. If you see a lot of movies and don't mind spending the money, by all means, see this film. More discriminating viewers may wish to wait for the rental though.

Here's a little something for everyone who's sad about Enterprise being canceled.

The rerun of LOST tonight was not exactly packed with information. Having read ahead on the website, I had already learned about Claire's kidnapping, Charlie's boobery, and Ethan's mysterious absense from the manifest. I did very much enjoy the exchange between Sawyer and Hurley, and the implication that Claire's baby is some kind of Shickelgruber or something. Speaking of LOST, if you're feeling worried that you haven't been buying me enough presents lately, you should consider sending me This. Me likee very much! (Actually, I used to have this excellent nalgene bottle with a sticker of a Flaming Moe on it, and a sticker from [profile] derekfz. Anyway, it got some kind of residue on the inside and because it has a small mouth, I couldn't get it out. So I need a new drink bottle so I can carry Brita water everywhere with me.) Later, [profile] pak_man78 made a funny joke during LOST as I was introducing him to Sayid. He asked if his first name was "West". Say it out loud, trust me, it's funny. "West Sayiiiid"

Smallville, OTOH, made up for last weeks crappiness with a huge leap forward in plot. Chloe is more awesome than ever, and even Lois irritated me less than usual. I'm not all that intrigued by this plot developing between Lex and Mama Teague. I wish Lex would go back to corporate craziness and witty exchanges with Lionel. Besides, methinks Lionel and Mama Teague would probably have many things to discuss...EVIL things...unless Lionel really is a changed man, in which case, he is not long for this Earth, or this show.

Tomorrow I have therapy, plus I'm following up for a job answering phones for Yellow Cab.

I was glad she was really dead. They made me care about Alicia at the end and I was worried they would somehow "Save her". It was much better for the story for Clark to feel real loss and the isolation of knowing that the person who really knew his secret was gone. Im not sure if I appreciated thier attempt at a nod to one of my favorite moments in "Superman" where Clark finds the dead Lois and shouts an ear splitting denial to the skies. Interesting twist having Chloe know the secret but keep it a secret that she knows. Ironically this is the roll that the comic book Pete Ross had. He knew the secret, but Clark was unaware of it. I suppose they are just "Sexying" it up. I did think that Chloe owed Clark a bit more of an apology for her treatment of Alicia, which was dreadful. Thanks to Ebert and his law of "Character Economy" for letting everyone know who the real "Baddie" was.

Are there people you know who are REALLY sad about Enterprise? I suppose there are. But 18 years straight? Ugh. I consider myself a pretty big Star Trek fan, but lets give it a rest, please.

I'm unsure how I feel about a continuation of Quantum Leap. I mean sure, I love the characters and everything, but the last episode was very powerful and made a real HERO of Sam because he makes an ultimate sacrifice of HIMSELF so that he might help OTHERS. "Doctor Samuel Beckett never returned home" may not be a HAPPY ending, but it is a powerful one.

I have to cut Chloe some slack as to her treatment of Alicia. She did, after all, make her own bed. And obviously, Chloe is going to have some issues with the girl who married Clark, even if only for a day.

And I too was glad she died, but then, everyone who knows Clarks secret and intends to tell, dies. Let's hope Chloe keeps quiet, because she would be missed.

I know what you mean about QL. But I'm willing to see where it leads. If I hate it, I can just pretend it doesn't exist, like Omen 4...or alien 4 for that matter.

IMDB didn't say whether or not QL:ABLF would be a series ro mini-series. If they did it as a made for TV movie it would probably be good. If they make it a series, I suspect that it will not last more than 3 seasons. But the fans will keep it going for at least 2. Unless it totally sucks.

I don't think Enterprise totally sucked. I wish they offered it at a time where I could have watched it. I wish I could afford Tivo. And now that you mention it, I was pretty treked out.

Alien 4 is a good movie. All 4 movies were done in a completely different style. The fourth was done like a mainstream blockbuster.

I have always maintained that a movie should be rated based on what the intent of the maker was. You can't hold any 2 of the movies together and compare them. I liked Alien 4 the way I liked Mummy.

And it's worth it to watch Ripley kick ass.

Well, I've been a Star Trek fan for a long time. Since back BEFORE Next Generation. I gobbled up Next Gen and DS9, but with UPN and Voyager and Enterprise either I got too old or it got too stale, I'm not sure which. I know there are a lot of people who are fans of both, and there were episodes of both shows that I enjoyed, but in the end there were more I didn't enjoy then did. I suppose I hope one day to once again enjoy Trek the way I used to. But it might be that I'm just too old for that

I see the point you are making here. I just hate the ending of A4 so much...and all the other movies have good endings. So it's depressing. By the 4th film in a series, fans have a lot of time and money invested in the mileiu, so we dont' want any Ripley-come lately messing around with it.

Ripley-come-lately! Ha. That's good. i just made that up...hahahaha
