Dear Abby
As many of you know, I do read Dear Abby every day, even though I think some of her advice is a tad slaggy. I think I should probably have my own advice column, but that has not been offered to me just yet. In the mean time, I'll share with you this harrowing Dear Abby letter:
DEAR ABBY,
>My husband has a long record of money problems. He
>runs up huge credit card bills and at the end of the month, if I
>try to pay
>them off, he shouts at me, saying I am stealing his money. He says
>pay the
>minimum and let our kids worry about the rest, but already we
>can hardly keep up with the interest.
>Also he has been so arrogant and abusive toward our
>neighbors that most of them no longer speak to us. The few that do
>are an
>odd bunch, to whom he has been giving a lot of expensive gifts,
>running up our
>bills even more.
>Also, he has gotten religious in a big way, although
>I don't quite understand it. One week he hangs out with Catholics
>and the next with people who say the Pope is the Anti-Christ. And
>now he has been
>going to the gym an awful lot and is into wearing uniforms and
>cowboy outfits,
>and I hate to think what that means. Finally the last straw. He's
>demanding
>that before anyone can be in the same room with him, they must sign
>a loyalty
>oath. It's just so horribly creepy!
>Can you help?
>
>Signed, Lost in DC
>Dear Lost:
>Stop whining, Laura. You can divorce the jerk any
>time you want. The rest of us are stuck with him for four more
>years.
We did actually see House of Flying Daggers today. Good stuff.
Tonight I'll be making my second batch of homeade ice cream.
I'm trying to see if it still turns out okay if I use some whole eggs as well as egg yolks; this recipe calls for 16 egg yolks, which is just about outrageous IMHO. I wish they would hurry up and air the Good Eats ice cream show so I can avail myself of AB's expansive knowlege on the subject. I love that guy.
Speaking of things I love, it seems that since I went back on my diet after the holidays, I have lost 9 pounds. No, that is not a misprint, I actually have dropped nine pounds in 18 days. Some of that is because I've been tryng really hard to not eat junk. And some of that is because twice I slept thru an entire day and didn't eat anything. Oops. Of course, being stone poor makes it fairly easy not to eat fast food, but it makes it far more difficult to keep healthy food in the house. I wish those yummy Grapple's didn't cost a buck apiece!

I enjoyed Flying Daggers, but I think Hero was better.

Although, I may check out Last Samuri on HBO this month, since I haven't seen that either. Somthing tells me I'd be better off just watching the DVD of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I'll probably be buying "Hero" pretty soon, so you can watch it then.
