that Monkees icon is awesome...I remember watching that show on Nick at Nite...I thought Davy was cute...he didn't age well though...now I'd say it's Mike Nesmith who's the good looking one...
I think my mom liked Peter (though Davy too)...I thought Mike was the one serious about music...at least that's the impression I got from watching Behind the Music, though that was easily a couple of years ago now...Mike seemed to be the only one who knew what he was doing musically, and had a hard time fitting the format of what everyone else wanted the show and the music to be...
Mike and Peter were both musicians already when they auditioned for The Monkees. Peter actually tried out on the advice of his buddy, Stephen Stills of CSN&Y. Micky and Davy were actors. The reason they got to play thier own instruments on the second album (and on) was because Mike complained to the press.
Mike had some success in country music. After he invested in a smallish network of what later became Mtv, he stayed mostly in music production. Of course, he inherited a vast sum from his mother, who invented liquid paper.
Peter continues to make new albums and occasional tours with his band, Shoe Suede Blues. Thier stuff is kind of funky, I like it, but don't actually own any.
*laugh*
You're most welcome, though. =-)
Re: *laugh*

Although I always liked Peter. He's the only one still serious about making music.
