Nerding it up, Nerdstyle
H and I watched Akira last night, which funnily enough was released the year I graduated from high school. That has no relevance actually, except that you'd think I'd have watched it before now. It was okay, kind of slow moving and actiony for my taste. But I can see the appeal, and how it might inspire someone to make say, The Matrix. Not something I need to add to my collection or anything, just a cool little cartoon with a lot of characters whose motivation is fairly unclear.
Of course, Anime is one of those things I don't get especially nerdy about...kind of like super heroes. Sometimes this increases my enjoyment of things. For example, I am pretty stoked to see Smallville tonight, as it will feature The Flash. Know how much I know about The Flash? He runs real fast and wears a red outfit with a Harry Potter style lightening bolt on it. There's more than one Flash (although I don't know if this is like how there is more than one Green Lantern or not) and he runs real fast. So unlike my nerdy comrades, I'm not freaking out over which Flash it is, or what his story will be. I can just wait for it to unfold. But see, if there were going to be zombies on Smallville, I wouldn't shut up about it all week.
This quiz makes no sense, but it amused me, so there ya go:
Oh, hey
lickingtoad do you want to be my date to
fflo's Halloween party on the 30th? I'm dressing up and everything. Maybe that guy you live with will want to go, in fact, maybe that guy i live with will want to go. I forget if he's in town then or not. As per usual, I will be dressing as either a witch or a zombie. I know...it's shocking. But I have that fly-ass make up kit I haven't used since last Halloween.
Also,
fyreangel, the package has not arrived yet. I will let you know promptly once it does.
Last but not least, mad props to
inthaclouds for hooking me up with blankets for the shelter. The rest of you could benefit from following her shining example ;-) Well, you could!

Wow, you're like, a whole year older than me.
It's just that I assume that anyone on LJ with that many similar interests to me is, y'know, way younger.
Cool!!

Huh. I didn't actually read your userinfo. I just assumed: "Graduated in 88, must be older". Silly Craig.
Actually, it seems like it's only with girls. I know plenty of nerdy GUYS my age. But girls of my (our) generation were generally not interested in the same kind of "nerdy stuff" as me. Generation Y, however, has mysteriously produced a number of girls (and really pretty ones, too!) that are into comic books and horror films. That always trips me up when I meet a really cute girl that seems to have tons in common with me, only to find out: "You were born WHEN!?!?".
Not that I should really be hitting on nerdigrrls anyway. [shrugs]
