Baby, it's COLD outside!
My buddy came over last night to bring me a new tape deck and to ask me if I was registered to vote. Duh?!? No, I'm going to sit on my ass and just hope for the best *mock*. In addition to the obvious Kerry vs Evil Empire schism, we Michiganders will also be voting on medical marijuana. While I am fervently in the "all use is medical" camp, I realize that this vote will mean very little in terms of actual legality of use for regular people. It's still important though, if only to assert that my doctor should have more say in what medicines I can use than a bunch of nameless law makers whom I will never meet.
H and I went to the new Village "we're not going to hire you" Theatre at the mall yesterday. It's painted white inside, and the menu board is really POS. There was a new exit light in our theatre which reflected the word EXIT on the screen during the whole movie. Plus there was no manager on duty, which is totally against the insurance policy in place at the mall. I remember when I worked for Blockbuster, the mgr on duty wasn't even suposed to go out for a smoke because a manager had to be un the building at all times (of course, it was not really enforced, as you can keep a pretty good eye on things from a big window or three.
But I digress...we saw Resident Evil 2, because it was the only thing playing that I wasn't sure would suck. Plus, you know...zombies. I hadn't seen the first RE all the way thru, mainly because I didn't play the game and didn't want to wait 40 minutes into the movie to see the first zombie. So this sequel was, well it didn't really suck at all. I was quite pleasantly surprised. It wasn't flawless mind you, but for what it was it was pretty good. They used stock characters like "the scared bu determined journalist", "the wiseass urban guy", and the "horrible apathetic villian who you hope gets his comeuppance." But none of these chaacters were featured tot he point of annoyance. People coming out of graves is always a tad far fetched, but I can see the value of having such a scene in a horror movie, even though this was surely more 'action horror'. Anyway, it was not bad, and was set up for a third film, which I assume I will add to my zombie collection eventually.
As a special treat, H bought me the re-release of Super Mario Bros for GBA. The reissues are oinly $20 and since I never got around to finishing that game in high school, I thought I'd give it a try now. The best part is, I'm so bad at video games that it will take me months, if ever, to finish it. So I get a lot of play out of each game.
And now...I'm off to find a job.
