Jan and Tony...those crazy kids! Jan and Tony...those crazy kids!

Here we see the stars of my favorite movie that does not have any zombies in it...although there is mumified corpse and some brutal stabbings.

Mmmm...brutal stabbings....

*frown*

Now only John Gavin and Vera Miles remain...

I'm sorry to hear that she passed away.

What's either odd or plesantly ironic is that she signifies horror in one era and her daughter does in another.

Indeed!

and they did two horror films together:

The Fog and Halloween H2O

I have not seen The Fog yet, strangely enough. Where does it fit in your horror realm? Must see. Good see. Etc.

The Fog is historically significant because it was intended to be Halloween 2. John Carpenter was going to do a different scary story every halloween and have them be a series. He did the first one, obviously with Michael Myers.

The second film was supposed to be The Fog but since the MM character had done so well, they kept him around for another movie. Of course then halloween 3 became a marketing nightmare when it went back to the original plan of making unrelated stories every year.

But I digress...

I enjoyed The Fog, and put it in the same class of films as the remake of The Thing and Creepshow. Scary but not excessively so, with some suspense, creepiness and innovation. Certainly you should see it if you never have.

That explanation about The Fog actually helps Season of the Witch make more sense. But if they were clever enough to take the Halloween franchise name off The Fog, I wonder why they did not do the same with SotW? It may have been able to stand more on its own without the franchise title, at least in my mind.

I will make it a point on my next v-store run.

They took the Halloween name off The Fog so they could release halloween 2 that same year (the next year), but didn't think they'd pursue Michael Myers any further.

Shame of it is, Season of the Witch is a good little film.
