Thursday Nitro

Warning...the heading is the only reference to pro wrestling in this post!

Good freinds C and P came by tonight to buy us dinner and loan H and I season 2 of Smallville. I imagine we'll tear into that soon. They also bought me This, which I love; and a cool poster which I also love.

I baked some vanilla cranberry bread for my gathering on Saturday. Oddly, one loaf stuck horribly to the pan, and one didn't. I know I sprayed both pans, and they were identical. So I have no clue what could be up with that. The festivus will still be fun and everyone is still invited anytime after 9pm. Almost no one has confirmed, but I imagine most of you slags will just show up unannounced. I think I'll also make a cake and some bakalava since I'm so good at it. And maybe some hummus if I'm in the mood.

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zenithberwyn who offered me many helpful hints on my screenplay. In other movie news I'm delighted to see that Colateral has gotten a 91% rating so far at Rotten Tomatoes although they still have The Village at 42%. Ralph Feinnes has finally officially signed on as Voldemort (or Voldie to some of you) as well as Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter. It looks like I'll have to wait until the 20th to see Open Water, as it is only in Birmingham right now...no where else in all of Michigan.

And the best news of all is that H has the whole weekend off. That is cool as he has a new manager at FedEx/Kinko's and they are messing with his hours big time. Now they want him to work at other stores (despite him not driving) and also pull 50 hour weeks even though he is not management. It's just the sort of situation that makes a company lose long term employees, some new guy comes in and starts fucking with the schedules of people who have been with the company for years...H has 6 years of exemplary service with them, and now they are giving him shit because he wants to keep his set schedule. I think it's a pretty shabby way to treat someone who already agrees to work midnights every single weekend. Plus, you know...people ought not to mess with H when I'm around...seriously.

Tell H I feel for him. I know what it's like to have new management come in and fuck up the status quo. That's not fair. Especially the working at other stores bullshit. The man develops a great rythm and quality schedule that works for both him and the company, and they fucking do that shit. As you can see I've got a lot of resentment built up from all the times in my life that shit has happened. BASTARDS!

*cools off*

Hell, H will be so busy running the country, after we get him elected, there'll be no time for Kinko's anyway.

Maybe we should go to Kinkos and expalin it to his new manager.

I think that'll be my next step.

Glad the hints were of the helpful variety...

They were. I've been making sweeping changes this morning, cut some dialogue and stuff. After reading and rereading, it does seem like I'm intentionally leading the viewer down the wrong path, which I meant to do...but I don't want them feeling let down when they should be horrified.

Cause even though i loved The Village, it's getting terrible reveiws because people are feeling let down.

Yeah, on the one hand, you don't want to telegraph what's coming, but on the other hand, you have to deliver on the basic promise, except in a way nobody expects.

This writing business is difficult.

But fun.
