Dammit!!!

Well, we thought we figured out what the issue was with Final Draft6 so I could type and save even if I had to go thru a long process after each save (the program shuts itself down automatically after saving and has to be re installed every single time). I did not think that was so bad, since it's a good program and it formats for me, which would take me a long time to learn.

I was up all morning and finally managed to crank out 2 scenes. That may not seem like much, but I assure you it is. And guess what? It saved the first time, when I had half a page and stopped to reseach something online. But when it came time to resave at 4 pages it lost everything.

I thought about perhaps printing to a PDF before saving, but then I couldn't edit anything, and beleive me, this thing will be edited countless times.

So I'm terribly bummed and wanted to share all of that with you.
And now I have nothing to do for an hour while I wait to call the stupid MARVIN computer again.

If I can remember what I wrote later, the beginning is pretty good.

EDIT: I managed to get thru to MARVIN a few minutes ago. In 7-10 days I'll have a little bit of money. Thank heavens for small favors.

Can you copy it to a another program and save it there? Maybe use Final Draft to format your text, and then copy and paste it to whatever word processor you use regularly. If your lucky the formatting will copy with it.

You can, but if you cut and paste it all the formatting goes away and everything has a right margin.

In failry sure Ryan and his posse will get it figured out, I'm just mad I lost my first coherent pages of script ever.

She could do that or just use the working version of the exact program on the exact same computer on my desktop rather than hers, and then she won't have to reinstall it whever she starts the program. The only probelm with it on my desktop is that it quits after saving, but it opens right up each time without having to type in the registration.

Actually, it doesn't.

It has the same saving problem as on my desktop. it saves okay the first time, but you have to change the name of the document every time to make it save again.

It still closes when you save somthing but you don't have to type in the registration number. And you don't have to give it a new name, you just overwrite it.

That's what i thought. When i tried to overwrite it, it clsoed down and saved a blank, untitled document.

Hahahahahaha!

This is odd. I've never had a problem with the program. Which version of Os X are you running?

Ryan says it's either 10.3 or 10.4

Yeah...I have no clue.
And it's such a helpful program, I'd love to be able to use it.
