Perhaps "The Mating Ball" would have been a better title:

For those of you who don't know, I used to have a yellow anaconda as a "pet". Like fish, snakes are much more like hobbies than pets, excpet unlike fish they may try to kill you on occassion. Funny-drawing-guy Gary Larson raised a burmese python from infancy that eventually tried to do him in.
And if you know snakes, you know that burmese pythons are up there with red tail boas as very docile animals. I fully acknowlege that snakes are scary, hell I am more afriad of snakes now than before I owned one, having been bitten many, many times. But all that aside i see no reason at all for this sort of nonsense.

I think I am going thru some kind of depressive phase for some reason, maybe because I do that from time to time. Plus I was going to see Zero Day today but my cab did not arrive in time, so I missed it. Only then did I learn that it is leaving tomorrow to make room for Raising Helen, which I have less than no interest in seeing.

We will have a full schedule of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the holiday weekend. Since we're not working Sunday or Monday, H and I are thinking or grilling some stuff on the grille. Wheee! Outside cookery, the hallmark of even the smallest summer festival! But speaking of Jim Carrey, the trailer for Series of Unfortunate Events! .
That website is tremendous fun, if you havent' been by yet:

And in case you hadn't noticed, I finally figured something out...

I guess I didn't notice. Or.. I.. just don't know what you're talking about.

That HTML thing so I dont' have to have big long http addys in my posts. People have actually complained about that in the past, like if the link is long and thier computer doesn't break it up.

Looks better this way to, and it wasn't as difficult as I'd thought before. Turns out, I'm better at this stuff sober.

Ah, I take it you update via the webpage rather than through a client, no?

[identity profile] derekfz.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
i kind of figured. using the client, making links and stuff like that is a lot easier. there's buttons and stuff for all that kinda junk.

*cracking up*

The boat's name is Bloody Mary - "she's ugly but she puts out?"

That's some dialogue, I tell you....

Is there any chance H can make it to the festivities on Sunday?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. He is usually pretty tired after working all night.

[identity profile] savidge.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose I've been lucky with my snake.
She would never bite me.
Well, unless I bathed in rat scented shampoo,
stood out in the hot sun for ten minutes,
and then shot my hand in the tank.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of snake is it?

[identity profile] savidge.livejournal.com 2004-05-29 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
She's a columbian red-tailed boa.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-05-29 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice, those are so pretty.

how big is she?

[identity profile] savidge.livejournal.com 2004-06-02 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
She is very pretty, and she knows it.

I haven't measured her in a while, but I thinks she's
6 feet long, and weighs about 8 pounds.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-06-02 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice...

I miss my snake. Well, I guess i miss having a snake more than I miss Dante the anaconda. He was all the time biting me.

[identity profile] savidge.livejournal.com 2004-06-03 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's a shame he was biter, not a lover.
I think snakes are wonderful pets.
They're relatively self-sufficient, fascinating, and, in a way, an example of ancient history.
I enjoy walking around the city with her, dispelling myths & freaking people out.

Unfortunately I can't view the trailer at work for some reason, but I looked it up on IMDB. I don't see the difference between this movie and any other movie where some ferocious looking animal kills people. Jaws is a perfect example of such nonsense.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-05-28 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
In the 70's people didn't know any better, now they do.

[identity profile] nate101000.livejournal.com 2004-06-01 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly they don't.
