Can't Stop the Whinin'

Feeling a bit better today, think the weather has everything to do with that. I opened up a bunch of windows and got some fresh air...even went outside to walk that dog.

Thought about going to screen Flower of Evil, but don't really feel like dealing with any work people. Work has been so sucky lately, people are in bad moods. Plus so much turnover leads to a staff that is not as close as out old staff was. We don't really hang out outside of work like we used to. Plus we're getting that shitty porn star next door movie that is going to attract the most irritating crowd possible.
I'm not even stoked about seeing Lloyd Kauffmann tomorrow just because I know its going to cause people to act like idiots again. Professionalism anyone?
I'm sure the last thing a studio president wants to do is hear movie pitches from every popcorn scooping loser that he comes in contact with. If it were me, I don't think I could even feign politeness.

"Yes, I have my own production company...but I think I'll take suggestions from a bunch of kids who haven't done anything with thier lives yet and haven't bothered to put a cohesive proposal together!"
Because isn't that how we show respect for literary and cinematic heroes?
By totally ignoring thier chain of communication for our own convenience, so we can wander up to them like morons and pretend that...I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. I just can't stand the self-important ass kissing that goes on at these schmoozy things.

In other news:

I still don't know what's wrong with text messaging.

I'm finally reading that book Wicked that everyone else on the planet seems to have read. It's okay so far, but its all back story at this point. People cheating on their spouses and soforth.

The Dinner Game was on last night, best thing to happen to me all week.
I love that movie.

Is Wicked the re-telling of one of the fairy tales? Cinderella?

[identity profile] grammargirl.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wizard of Oz. :)

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2004-04-08 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's about the Wicked withc of the west from wizard of oz. The cinderella one is called confessions of an ugly stepsister.

Hi. I know what you mean. Let's get Kwame and Emily, and everybody back. The atmosphere that once made me love Madstone is slowly eroding...the extra paycheck between WAAM checks keeps me coming back though.

i was thinking about going to see that!!!!!!
(i still might end up there tomorrow night
if my sister starts feeling better.)

ive been really curious about the madstone
since i first heard about it around this time
last year (i think) when you guys had that
short film soft for digging. did you see it?
if so, how was it?
:)

I did see Soft for digging and thought it was really cool and scary, although I had figured out a different ending.

It didn't have much dialogue, and what it does have is not veyr good. but the film itself was moody and disturbing.

American Astronaut was a lot of fun too. Should be cool to hear what Lloyd Kauffmann thinks of us.

Wicked has a startlingly unironic feel, considering what it is.
