"Was I Not Entertained" is a gramatical nightmare...
I finished watching Blade in the Dark which is Italian horror from 1983, by the little Bava, Lumberto.

I must say that it was pretty freaking scary. The beginning totally creeped me out, and while the ending was a fairly blatent rip-off (or should I say "Homage") to both Psycho and Dressed to Kill, I must say I enjoyed the film. There is a little kid in it who was uncredited, but whom i recognized as the kid from Fulci's House By the Cemetary. Then I was all impressed with myself for recognizing bit players in obscure italian horror.
Later, I finally got to see my Hot Hot Boss in his Hot Hot Play. As anyone literate no doubt knows, I was looking forward to seeing him using adult language in the midst of mature situations. Well truth be told, it freaked me the hell out!
First to review the play, it was a cool script about 2 couples one of whom is getting a divorce. And its one of those bitter resentful deals where both partners feel victimized. You get to hear everyones take on the situation, and there is some great snappy dialogue. The themes are serious, but are handled deftly and with much of that bittersweet humor contemporary audiences love. I certainly did. the whole cast were hard-freaking-core. All four of them put forth these amazing, moving performances. And the story contains lots of moral ambiguity so its the sort of thing people discuss afterwards. And the reason why its good for society to make art in the first place.
The set design was both minimal and functional. It looked cool but was not intrusive...the offstage kid voice was damn irritating. And the kid who plays the waiter...I know I've seen that kid around town.
As for the bossesque aspects of the production, like I said I was pretty uncomfortable I guess with how good his performance was. For some reason, I was expecting to see him acting basically like himself. So when he started talking about rage sex and crying out for help and hugging people...it was just fucking wierd. I suppose despite feelings to the contrary, i was not at all prepared to see my HHb acting. And I have to tell you...it was not so Hot Hot. His character was really kind of a prick, the sort of person who is not proactive about his life, then blames people when he's not happy. Plus you know...all this breathing life into people business is a little over the top for a reformed romantic such as myself. But then, I have some issues. So you know...it was pretty good.
I was going to make super duper bannana bread tonight (with walnuts and bluberries), but Steve forgot to bring me eggs. Now I have to do that and a whole mexican layer dip (making spiced beans, guacomole and rice) tomorrow in between my closing shift and my Saturday double. I'm full of martyrdom I guess. Oh, Woe is I!!!
