Television: Teacher, Mother, Secret Lover:
We watched Cabin Fever. I must confess that it was better than one would think. Cast full of no one really,
uterdic tells me the main kid is from some family show I wouldn't watch. Not bad performances, not a large amount of slutty, gratuitous teen sex..plenty of drug use and drunkenness. And a hideous kid who confuses the human arm for pancakes...whyever the hell!
This movie had a lot of wierd characters that made you have to force yourself to suspend disbeleif, because they never exlpain what is up with these people. The illness and its progression thru the hapless teen cast was entertaining to watch; and the teenage boys took every opportunity to freak out. The loser gets laid scene was quite tasteful. Moral of the story: never trust the police to help you. Grade: B-
We also watched best of Will Ferrell. I must say I'm quite dissappointed with the selections. First off, they omitted certain sketches I found hilarious...like Wake Up and Smile. Anyone know where I can download that, BTW? But they also chose a sampling of his work that was not among the most funny. Not the funniest cheerleader sketch, not the funniest middle school music teacher sketch, nor the Roxbury guys, nor Celebrity Jeopardy. They did have the Cowbell sketch, and a lot of people breaking character. Jimmy Fallon never seems to stop breaking character to laugh, he's worse than freakig Jerry Seinfeld. I realize a proper Best of Will Ferrell should be a 3-5 disk set, but I still submit that they could have done a much better job selecting.
Then at long last, I got to se the first 10 minutes of Dawn of the Dead on USA. Perhaps I am biased, but it looks scary as hell! The dead are animated within seconds, and are speedy as shit when they return. I realize that this is more in keeping with 28 Days Later than the usual Romero fare, but I'm okay with that. Audiences have had over 30 years to plan how to outwit and escape from slow, lumbering zombies. Only speedy ones will scare us now methinks. It looks like we're also going to see plenty of Mans Inhumanity to Man as society slowly collapses and people get frantic and brutal just to survivs another few days, hours or minutes. No more room in hell? Fuck that, I made a reservation...
So who's up for a Friday night midnight show? I'll be needing a ride.
And BTW, only 3 more days until I see HHB in his play!
Sweet!
And I have one more thing to add Re: Sopranos
"Fucking Maserone!"

The two times I have laughed the hardest at Will Ferrel were
1) The sketch from which your userpic comes from.
2) The middle school music teachers sketch where they did a medley of drug-themed/related songs and he did the "pure as the driven snow" line from "White Lines (Don't Don't Do It"), which is hilarious enough in it's original form.

how are you doing, BTW?

I love Bert tho... Talking about going to shoot squirrels..
Paul - Why would you want to shoot squirrels?
Bert - *Dumbfounded look* Cuz they're gay.

That icon almost made me spit out my beloved coffee.
Only recently have I started to find Will Ferrell funny.
His delivery is impressive.
I couldn't do elf though.
The thought of sitting through an entire movie, staring at his male camel toe, made me queasy.
Yeah, I can't wait for Dawn of the Dead either.
I also heard about the first ten minutes.
It's been at least a decade since I've seen a truly scary movie.

I saw The Ring, but not Ringu, which I'm sure is better.

I'd go so far as to reccomend Ringu 2.

By the way on the high speed zombies, sadly yes they are a bit of a necessity today because most people think "Hell I can outrun the sombitches then I can win" but what strongly appeals to me about the slower zombies is the inevitability of their movement, sure you can outrun them but they are coming and they have numbers.
