H and I went to Blockbuster since they are having a buy 2, get one free sale of used DVD's. I almost bought 3, then I realized I didn't really need them and was just getting them because they were on sale. The ones I almost got are Gacy, Night Stalker, and 28 days later. I was also looking at Old School and Mighty Wind. Ultimately, I bought new copies of Edward Scissorhands and a cartoon compilation of Maurice Dendak's work. So now I have all the nutshell library stuff, but not, i think, the Really Rosie stuff...plus Where the Wild Things are. Mmmmm...Where the Wild Things Are...

Blockbuster is not like it was when I worked there. The VHS and DVD are all mixed together. this is not so bad I guess. but the horror, sci-fi and action movies are also mixed together. Mixing action and horror is rarely a good idea (unless you're talking about Aliens). Then if you want a certain horror film, you need to first figure out whether Blokcbuster thinks of it was action or drama. Then you have to determine if it was an oscar winner, because then it might be in that special section. In reality, it could take you 20 minutes to find films like Misery, or Silence of the Lambs--not that I don't own them...I'm just saying.

We also rented a few things since they were crazy with cheapness. For $4 (four dollars) we rented Cube, best of Will Ferrel, Microcosmos (my pick) and Cabin Fever. So even if 3 of them suck, it was still money well spent. And since I'm not babysitting tonight, I have tons of free time.

The diet news is not good. I'll spare you the details and simply say I'm not making anymore cake unless I am sure there will be hungry people around to help eat it. I cannot seem to resist my pineapple upside down cake...much to my detriment.

I worked both at Blockbuster and Hollywood video in my moonlighting career. I, too, have sported the yellow and blue, my friend.

i find that many creative people have worked in that hellhole. I did my time at Hollywood as well...i enjoyed their selection more and thier policies less than BBuster.

Oooh, yes, you nailed it there. Hollywood was one of the most facist corporate retail entities I worked for. Right down to the anal retentive spacing of the movies on the shelf. But they had much better selection.

Cube is one of my all-time favorite movies

I'll be sure to post a review.

Blockbuster is my across the street neighbor. I'm waiting to pick up previously viewed VHS copies of 28 Days Later and Cabin Fever.

they had them both when i was at my local store today!

They also had several of those srial killer movies Lions Gate has been putting out. The trend on those is that they are quite gruesome and not very factual...but entertaining to watch.

The sad part is I still consider working for Liberty Street Video, just so I can get some of the video store working magic.

Small M&P stores are fine in my opinion. in fact,t hey are important to people who have taste beyond hollywood dreck.

And people with taste tend to make better customers.

As long as they are not fan boys....*shivers* I dread Fan Boys.

No, not fanboys...regular people with taste.
