Okay, we're rolling...whenever you're ready...

Well, I just returned home from recording my first of what I hope will be many commercials at WAAM radio. If the ad sales guy doesn't think I sucked too bad, I could become the new voice of Gene Butman Ford. I daresay I need some more work and practice at V/O. I read pretty well, but find it difficult to keep the pacing and maintain good diction and inflection at the same time. Plus I was nervous (read: dry mouth) and reading off a single-spaced sheet of paper with things crossed out and written over.

So despite it taking me almost half an hour to lay down a 60 second spot, it went okay.
And I made $10.

H wants to go to the Kay Bee toy sale today. Might be a good time to pick up that Smeigle (sp?) I've had my eyes on. I was also thinking about getting a few more retro games, like Connect Four and Hangman. It's very silly that hangman even exists as a "board" game, but then, Tic Tac Throw is pretty silly too. We also have been wanting an Electronic Battleship game. Playing without sound effects is just too analog for us.

In my efforts to be involved in some LJDrama.org style drama, I've joined that community where someone randomly reviews your journal. It's supposed to be like a funny spoofing...and I'm always down for a little spoofery!

And as if Todd McFarlane did not impress me enough:

Happy Candlemas or Imbolc to my wonderful pagan readers!
Good Monday to you all!

I think you've got a really great voice for the radio.

Thank you, sweetie.

Let's hope the boss man agrees with you!

I think so too. You should hear the voice on the guy at the bank I went to. It's the Standard Federal near the new Mallets Creek library. That dude makes me sound like some lame-ass with four cats and a GameBoy in his pocket...Uh, Oh..Uh, nevermind. No wednes, you sound fine, and with more practice you'll be kicking ass.
Right now I'm on the cel with DTE Energy. They're a pain in the ass. I do like this new library though.

thanks man!

So many board games are such a scam! Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit can be played just as fun with just the cards, the die and a scorecard! Balderdash is great with just scraps of paper and a dictionary!

Go for the eBattleship.

You're right on all counts.

Not that you don't already know this, but to help practice your VO work, just read everything outloud. You won't bother me if you do it at home. Don't read over it first, just sit and start reading. You'll train yourself to read farther ahead so you don't have as many mistakes.

I do it with accents. Mostly while driving down the road, I'll read out all signs, and say what the DJ's say in whatever accent I am practicing. This ideat gives realistic situations for changes that might occur, as well as just plain and simple practice.

BTW, I know I've told you this, but i think it's soooo awesome that you have this opportunity. Whatever I can do to make the most of this, let me know. You have a fantastic voice, this is a great chance to make it big.

Good suggestions all.

I'm sure we'll have lots more time to talk about it.
