It's been entertaining for awhile, but honestly, profane personal attacks (even with asterisks) should be confined to your own journal space, not mine.
Here are a few things that I find offensive when said to me...
"Are you high or something?" Are my opinions less valid because of my occasional drug use?
"Try reading my replies when you come down...maybe after a nap." Once again an obvious implication that my opinions are invalid.
They may have been intended as humor, but since humor is subjective people might take a little more care as to what they say to others.
I'll just remember that from now on when I try and point out that smoking weed is no more crippling than any other habit that my opinions are not valid because I'm just a pothead. I'll bear that in mind in future posts.
And I'm sorry if it seems to me that when people refer to Wednes' habits as crippling I feel the need to point out that it's subjective. But I would like people to just once come to the defense of potheads.
Well, the first two comments there were made after you used the word "a**hole". Once you start with name calling, it usually gets ugly.
I realize that your intention was to defend pot smoking; you wanted it known that a pot habit need not be "crippling". Point taken.
The problem is that a) the comments in question were addressed to me, and b) they were intended as humorous. I found them funny. c) Nobody said anyone comments were not valid due to pot use. If Tinted One felt that way, he wouldn't be talking to me at all, since he is well aware of my habits. d) Opinions are all subjective, that is what makes them different from facts.
People are allowed to disagree, and to express opinions. Everyone who disagrees with you is not an arrogant asshole; regardless of how eloquent they are in defending their own opinions.
N, you often become disgruntled and snippy when people don't completely subdue at the introduction of your contrary opinions. I submit that you might feel better if you concentrate on stating your case clearly without any attempts to change anyone's mind. You make valid points, why care whether or not you're changing the minds of people whom you'll probably never meet?
You'll find that most of the folks on my friends lists are highly stubborn and opinionated. These are the kinds of people I enjoy the most and learn the most from.
Actually if you check the thread carefully you will find that I called him and a** hole in response to his dismissive tone. And I did NOT start name calling.
I was not looking for people to submit to my opinion. I was looking to have my opinions taken seriously. However, that is simply not possible when people prefer to believe that potheads are incapable of forming valid opinions.
This is sort of a moot point, but he isn't the jerk-off that you seem to take him for, he's quite clever and nice. You don't really think I'd waste any time friending someone who was openly dismissive of potheads, do you?
It might be more fun to give people the benefit of the doubt once in awhile.

K's Leg is feeling much better, so we may see you tonight. Actually we were hoping to see Dr. Strangelove tonight too.

I'm glad K's leg is better, any idea what caused it? That must be scary.
