Cats V Dogs: the debates rages on.

As most of you know, I have two black cats. Now that H and I have a new roommate, there is also a dog living with us. Here are some thoughts I have about cats v dogs.

Sometimes dogs attack people. Not the one I live with, she's very well trained, but other dogs. Sometimes they attack people, and its almost never people they own.
Cats also attack people, mostly babies. While some people don't believe this, I do fervently think that cats will try to kill babies if they feel threatened by them, such as a new baby in a formerly cat-focused household. My grandma's cat tried to suffocate me when I was a baby. Happily, I did not die.

Dogs and cats are both very territorial.

If you own a dog and you suddenly die, the dog probably won't let anyone get near you. This is a sign of the dogs loyalty.
If you die in a house with cats, they will eat your face. This is because cats understand that the body is just a vessel, and the real you has discorporated. I don't think cats actually know that word, but they are aware of souls and auras and "ghosts". Generally, cats are good to have around because they see thins we can't see.

Dogs and cats both have to investigate everything new that comes into ones home. But cats are much slower and more cautious about new people than dogs.

Dogs are very aware of who, in a group of dogs is the alpha dog. There is a sophisticated hierarchy. Cats are similar, but include all members of the household. Clarence, my alpha cat, wants to sit in my chair, sleep in my spot on the bed (though taller than my head) and be taller than me at every possible time.

Dogs are good at scaring people who knock on the door. Cats do not care who's visiting.

I'm sure this will not be the last time I discuss cats v dogs.

When I was a kid I was around cats, dogs, and rabbits, and liked them all, was excited about all of them for the different good things each had to offer. In the last ten years or so I have mostly been around cats, but lately I find myself wanting a dog, so I was interested in this list. I do feel like it takes more time and work to have a 'good dog' than to have a good cat. And I like the idea that a dog at least might bite someone if they broke into my apartment. Cats can be so mellow though, and I love that.

Anyway, cool list, you should add more as you think of or notice other stuff.

Thanks.

Good dogs do take a lot of work, as my roomate will attest.

I think I'm just lucky to have such wonderful cats.

I dig it when you discuss cats vs dogs.

I miss my kitties.

The Rum Tum Tugger & Beelzebub - "Bubba" for short.

I want to get a new one and name him "McCavity the Mystery Cat."

I'm a strange one in the way that I love cats and dogs equally.

That is strange, just because they are so different.

I'm sure there will be more on the cat v dog debate.

As you know, I adore my cats... see my site: http://mykittiesdan.tripod.com
I however do miss my Mom and Dad's dog. See the dog here:

The dog is cool. He's no cat, but he is cool. I like the animals that live with Wednes. Pretty kitties, good doggie!

You speak the truth. I had a dog once who sensed the spirit of my recently deceased grandmother, in my house. It's a long story. So, I think that animals are generally more in tune with that realm than humans.

Yup.

I have two dogs now, but I used to have two cats. I think my dog Phoebe is channeling my now deceased cat Humphrey's personality. They are very similar and cuddly! I love pets.

That is very interesting...I wonder how interspecies channeling works.

Cats and dogs are equally worthwhile in my view, though you do make one very good points: Our faces are all just meatstuffs for hungry animals. When my roommate's cat eyes my cheeks like that ... I do get quite the chill down my spine.

Geez, why did THAT turn me on?

So Sayeth the Rabbit

A dog thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me... They must be Gods!

Ah yes, dogs think you're family, while cats think you're staff.
