Pt 2 of my ongoing report on why Saturdays RULE!!!

I went to that silly party with a cool card, a great gift, and of course, Uterdic. All were well recieved. There didn't seem to be any other people there our age except the guest of honor, a former Bbuster pal. I don't like these kinds of events, because I always say something offensive to the host. I dont' mean to, but people get so easily offended by the silliest things...don't they?

There was a small fleet of children, an old guy with a video camera, 2 massive cakes, and lots of people who liked to sing about the Lord. There was macaroni and cheese in big tin foil thingys, and live Indigo Girls music on what appeared to be a record player. There was not wine. Wine would have been good.

I wanted to leave as soon as people started to talk to us. I was already having an intimate discussion with a tiny girl about the phrase "shut up" and how its not nice to use it. She was a smart one, and when I told her i knew my whole alphabet, I could tell she wasn't sure if she could beleive me. It was time to leave.

Then the cake lighting began. And the singing of the birthday song. And then all the kids wanted to blow out the candles. Again, and again, light and blow-out, until I honestly began to wonder how many more people would spit on the cake about to be served to guests. What kind of cultural thing is this, that we all accept eating peoples spit so they can perform an incorrect version of a pagan ritual? Many Witches beleive you are not supposed to "blow out" candles ever. It's insulting to the element of fire. I really wanted a glass of wine. It was time to leave.

U-dic talked to a lady with a lisp. I talked to the hostess, who had also read Naked, by David Sedaris. Then she asked me what kind of work i do. I mumbled something about freelance writing and complimented the selection of soft drinks, looking down at my can of Country Time "lemon"ade. It was time to leave.

Anyway, we eventually left the party and came back to my lovely home. Later, I had a very lucrative meeting with a new client (see my web page if you never have). This means that I'll be able to take H-wo to the movies to see Signs on Monday. I give "props" to my little word-of-business-card business. H-wo deserves to go out somewhere's nice.

What kicks more ass than an old guy with a video camera...Nothing. What kind of gathering was it?
