28 Days Later

Man...what an impressive film. Good characterization, despite little information given. Excellent cinematography, some of the best I've ever seen. Cool FX, great make-up and lots of well orchestrated risk-taking. Killer soundtrack, and deeply creepy. Not undead zombies, but flailing rage-filled "infected".

See this film...like the ad says: It's SCARY AS HELL!!!

Having said that...I spent a rather boring day not hooking up, cleaning my place, and wondering where I'll be living next month after I move...

Back to work tomorrow...

My friend has had a copy for a while and has been trying to get me to watch it...

i guess it is already on vhs in europe

and my friends who work at a local video shop rent it out... you can get so many boot-legs there =)

They aren't concerned about getting sued? All they'd have to do is get busted for one bootleg by the movie company, and a small locally owned business would probably go under.

guess not
funny thing, The largest movie rental store here in tucson (size wise, not company wise) gets copies of the bootlegs from this other store... so the largest place in town has boot-legged boot-legs.

The one i was talking about has a deal with one of the indy-theaters where they have to take any movies off their shelves that are playing at the theater.

I can't wait to see this!!! I may have to see it today in fact.

Interesting that you mentioned soundtracks...Danny Boyle's film soundtracks are some of the best out there.

I can see getting the bootlegs for store employees. But again, it seems really dangerous.

I'm one of those people who has a bit of intolerence for that sort of thing. Not copying movies or bootlegging. I'm all for that, but when a business breaks that rule. They made specific agreements with the distribution company promising not to release these movies until a specific date. Again, let the employees copy the movies and show their friends, but the business shouldn't do it.

I used to work for another little video store, Blockbuster (good people at the store, absolute tyrants as a company). We'd have customers come in and ask where our copies of some new movie were. I'd say, "It doesn't come out until next week." Then they'd reply, "but I just saw it at K-Mart for $12.99." So I'd call K-mart to confirm it. If they had it. I'd let them know it was illegal, and they needed to fix the problem. I only reported a company to the distributor once. They were cocks to me (the store).

I don't do this because I'm a stickler for the rules, but I'm also a filmmaker, and i wouldn't want it happening if someone promised me not to show one of my pieces until 'X' date, and they ignored the agreement. I guess it's sort of a "Do onto others" policy. I hear there was this dude a couple thousand years ago who said that.

My friends who work at the places are also film makers...
well one is a real film maker... the others just make b shit.
But the one that makes the real films is a little anti-production... this may have something to do with it.

Who makes movies there Adam?

[identity profile] noverflow.livejournal.com 2003-06-27 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
i was talking about you... you did work for a video store... but anyways... you will probably get a job at directors chair.

you read too much into stuff you dip shit.

i was explaining that you had no problem with boot legs and you too are also a film maker who worked at a video store... im sorry, next time i will take the time to explain the chain of your friends and be sure not to piss you off.

You are fucking anal some times, you know that.

My boyfriend is so stright edge, he doesn't want pirated stuff in the house!!!

So...I'll just have to see it 20 or 30 times here at work, then buy it the day it comes out on DVD.
