Matrix 2: Electric Boogaloo:
Just got home from seeing some kind of movie called Matrix: Reloaded...though at my house, its known at The Gaytrix. Since I bet many of you have heard of it, I'll jot down a few thoughts, with no actual spoilers.
Ha! Kidding! While action films are certainly not my genre, one cannot deny the appeal of The Matrix films, or of the yummy, yummy cast.
One of the reasons why sequels, and particularly action sequels suck so bad, is that they lack the philosophical edge of the original. Not so Matrix: Reloaded. (Example: Jurrassic park was a cool film about dinosaurs, and also about playing God, having morals, and modern science gone amok. Whereas JP II was simply a movie about dinosaurs.)
M:R gives you all the action and testosterone crap you men crave, while maintaining its intellectual edge. Clever and anything but redundant, M:R is one of the best sequels I have ever seen.
Even after thinking the trailer had shown me far too much information, there were still tons of surprises. Lots of new villians and cool technology, naked boobies, kung-fu fighting, and guns...you bet!
The Oracle appears despite the notable handicap of being dead, which I found pretty damn cool. And stick around after the credits, as the next matrix trailer is there. How's THAT for marketing?
In other Wednes news, my tattoo is peeling and has entered the "shiny" phase which itches like mad.
And next week, I have to see a totally new doctor, which I don't really want to do.
