Double You Tee Eff, Mister President?

Dear President Obama,

I've always stood up for you. I really, really think you're great. I support your financial plans and even understand your reasoning behind not releasing the torture photos. I respect your views on abortion and am temporarily cool with your reticence to discuss marijuana legalization. But sir, I must respectfully inquire:

WHAT THE SAM HELL FUCK IS THIS?!?

Please to be providing something like an explanation for this promise-breaking absurdity.

Thank you for your kind attention,

Good question - DOMA is indefensible and enshrines discrimination in federal law, which is something that I thought we were trying to undo myself....

And the rationalization for this, that other taxpayers are somehow subsidizing gay marriage (when those gay married people are taxpayers, too), is just ridiculous.

I don't get that part, either.

Yet another reason why you can't trust a single thing Obama says. He is untrustworthy. If I were POTUS, I'd fight to legalize gay marriage across the nation, decrease the size of government, legalize weed and prostitution, and bring back strong old US made cars like we had in the fifties, but all updated and high tech.

Well, I think it has much more to do with the fact that, as President, you begin to realize that you do not run the country in reality, the civil service does (i.e., the people writing your speeches and press releases, the people responsible for implenentation of policy, etc...). It also has much to do with the fact that the 2012 has already started. Such is politics in the United States. A certain percentage of what anyone in Washington says much be written off, but it doesn't mean everything they say is untrustworthy.

The BBC comedy "Yes, Minister" parodied Western democratic government in general with frightening precision.

I know, right?
It's pretty disappointing.

Of course it is. I've heard small business owners talk about how much "more" they'll have to pay in benefits if gays get married. I asked them if they plan to avoid hiring young, single people because after all...they might fall in love and get married--costing you more in benefits. *crickets*

Dude, you're determined to hate Obama no matter what. I saw where you blamed him for closing GM dealerships, as if pumping millions into trying to save a company that doesn't deserve to stay in business is somehow willing it to fail. If GM wants to continue to exist, they have to make cuts. That's not because of Obama's help--it's because GM is a ridiculous joke of a car company. Bringing back those silly boat-cars that get 15 miles to the gallon is not the answer either.

And your comments about welfare recipients are not based on any facts about welfare increases or voting therein. I do laugh though, when people say they want to "decrease the size of government" but still somehow involve the government in what goes on inside a woman's womb.

That said, I am very disappointed in this Obama particular Obama move. DOMA really is indefensible.

Yep, the bigotry and lack of logic is dumbfounding.

The boats of yesterday were pretty to look at, but they were POS cars in terms of their quality. Of course, in the fifties there were considerably more market protections, and globalization was not technologically feasible in the way it is now. Remember also that the United States absolutely decimated the infrastructure of the countries now kicking them all over the car market, so it wouldn't have been until the early 70s when you began to see them here anyway....

These days were a long time coming. The arrogance of the Big Three has finally come back to haunt them...
