What I've been up to:

Went to the dentist for the first time in over ten years yesterday. Yeah, I know...the dentist said the same thing. So now I get to go through a pretty intensive cleaning and scraping process. They also said something about oral surgery of some kind. So I guess I have that to deal with.

My galley for The Cat's Apprentice is here, and I've been going over that. It's still not my best work, but it's a perfectly readable novel. I like the characters, and I like what they do. I'm just not sure about theme, and wish I had another couple months to work on it. Anyway, that comes out in September. Truthfully, I'm more excited about the horror anthology that comes out in October. It contains a few of my most favorite short horror stories: In the Closet, The Growlers, and Moonlight Stab, among others.

Also been working on a script for a 30 second TV spot for A Stabbing for Sadie which is going to run during Nightmare SINema and anywhere I can post it. I can't afford any network or cable time, but I can afford this, so I'm going for it. Mad thanks to [livejournal.com profile] uterdic who will be helping out. I'm pretty excited to have a TV spot for my book, I hope it does some good. Locally famous is a good precursor to actual fame.

That reminds me, anyone who wants a signed copy needs to preorder thier copy within the next 2 weeks. I haven't presold that many books, I want to be loaded down with them on my way to the post office. C'mon kids. You don't want to miss out on reading my book. Of course, you won't actually miss out if you don't preOrder. You'll be able to get the book for a good, long time after the official release. But if you want a SIGNED copy, you better order soon.

If you get near it, do try the bannana stuffed french toast at iHop. It'll blow your mind.

You are not generally self conscious about yourself, however you experience panic, confusion, and helplessness when under pressure or stress. You lead a leisurely and relaxed life. You would prefer to sit back and smell the roses than indulge in high energy activities. You enjoy a certain amount of debate or intellectual thought, but sometimes get bored with too much. You are mostly a compassionate person, however you prefer to make objective judgments when possible, however you believe that a certain amount of deception in social relationships is necessary. You are guarded in new relationships and less willing to openly reveal the whole truth about yourself. You have a reasonable amount of will-power and are able to follow through on tasks that you feel you need to complete. You can be distracted however and have been known to procrastinate.

I know what you mean, we've only had one for about six months here in Ann Arbor. Before then, it was a 1 1/2 hour drive to the nearest one.

Thanks!
I hope you like it.

Always get a second opinion before any oral surgery. I had some I didn't need after a similar lenghty absence from a dentist. I'm not saying its not possible that you DO need it, but Dentist A might be more excited about your money than Dentist B. Also, Find a Dentist you enjoy as a person. I know that sounds crazy, but it makes my trips to the dentist much better.

That's solid advice. Thanks!

I feel pretty okay with the people I have, for now anyway. I do plan to talk to someone else about the oral surgery. See if I'd need it even if I didn't have Blue Cross...

You do not feel nervous in social situations, and have a good impression of what others think of you, however you feel enraged when things do not go your way. You are sensitive about being treated fairly and feel resentful and bitter if you think you are being cheated. You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. You like the security of tradition, but sometimes have a desire to bend the rules and challenge conventional thinking. You find helping other people genuinely rewarding and are generally willing to assist those who are in need. You find that doing things for others is a form of self-fulfillment rather than self-sacrifice, however you feel superior to those around you and sometimes tend to be seen as arrogant by other people. You have a strong sense of duty and obligation, and feel a moral obligation to do the right thing.

Our commonality seems to be that neither of us is particularly agreeable. :)

So far, I'm the most neurotic person I know.

Yours is vastly different from mine.
Most illuminating.

I am a most extroverted and conscientious person.
2 things I find tremendously valuable as a freelancer.

My insistence upon fairness is a downfall there of course...

You do not experience strong, irresistible cravings and consequently do not find yourself tempted to overindulge, however you are sensitive about what others think of you. Your concern about rejection and ridicule cause you to feel shy and uncomfortable around others. You are easily embarrassed and often feel ashamed. Your fears that others will criticize or make fun of you are exaggerated and unrealistic, but your awkwardness and discomfort may make these fears a self-fulfilling prophecy. People generally perceive you as distant and reserved, and you do not usually reach out to others. You tend not to express your emotions openly and are sometimes not even aware of your own feelings. You dislike confrontations and are perfectly willing to compromise or to deny your own needs in order to get along with others, however you will help others if they are in need. If people ask for too much of your time you feel that they are imposing on you. You take your time when making decisions and will deliberate on all the possible consequences and alternatives.

Wow, that seems pretty accurate based on what I know of you. What do you think?

It's reasonably accurate. The detailed assessment from the site is frightening at points. The five-factor model, though, is one of the more consistent tests in personality psychology. It was developed in the 1950s and 1960s and has held up over time. The Myers-Briggs Inventory is another good one to take.

Oh cool you are going to run a commercial on Nightmare SINema. Did you mention me?

I'm sending you an email with dates in May for coming on ParaWomenRadio.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 12:44 am (UTC)(link)

I talked to someone named Diane.

Okay, cool.
