The Fie and the Woot

There were car accidents on the road both on my way to work and on my way home. Both times a wily cab driver kept us from getting involved. Even though I was late to work, I gotta give it up for the drivers at Yellow Cab. *raises glass to them*

I can't believe what a difficult time I'm having finding a stupid copy of Final Draft 6. I'd rather not get the new one (7) since I already have the old one installed. One would think older software would be cheap, but it seems like it's nowhere to be found. If I loaned you my disc, you damn well better return it to me before I give up and spend $140 bucks on it. For serious. I have it installed, but don't have the disc so I can't use it. Fie and Fie again!

In sad news, our Wii has stopped working. I presume that our many power outtages have taken out yet another major appliance. You may recall that H needed a new computer for the same reason. After a whole day of trouble shooting, the people at Nintendo said we should try our Wii power cord on another Wii, like we've got a spare lying around or something. I wish stuff would just work like it's supposed to. Fie!

An old friend from college stopped by my work to visit me today. It was pretty sweet.
William, if you're reading this, it was cool as hell to see you. Woot!

In better news, I found my discs with my music on them. So I don't have to start my music collection over again from scratch. That is pretty nice. In the end losing a hard drive made me lose about 50 songs and about 200 user pics. But those are pretty easy to come by. ;-] All my stories are backed up several different places so I didn't lose a one! Woot!

Has anyone seen [livejournal.com profile] kissdbyagnome? I haven't seen her online in forever...

I read something in the a2 snews about how the power outages where you live are being caused by some dead trees on U of M property somewhere that they are dragging their feet about removing, but the DTE won't do it because it is U of M property. That really sucks.

[identity profile] uterdic.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Power strips with breakers on them would prevent devices from getting damaged from power outages. If they were plugged into a power strip with a breaker on it (most of them have one), then it is unlikely that it was the power outages. At the same time, that doesn't make it suck any less.

So, I can stop burning Britney, The Duffster, Girls Aloud and the Spice Girls for you now?

Yeah, they sent us a letter about it. But the letter didn't do much to get us our computer back.

;-[

H's computer was plugged into a power strip, while the Wii was plugged right into the wall. You'd think we'd know better...but no.

Also, can we try our power cord in your Wii?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, please do. (stop, I mean)

[identity profile] ladybutterfly74.livejournal.com 2008-01-16 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Just a thought, take your power cord to a used game store. They always have the machines out and running and just ask if they can swap out the cord and test it for you because that is what the guy at nintendo said to do. They usually will. At least here they do and my cousin works for a game stop so that makes it easier too.

Anyway ~ give that a shot to test your cord.

I hope I was of some assistance.

*loves*

I've not heard "Girls Aloud," but I definately enjoy me some "Spice" and some "Duff." ("Why not?" is a very fun song, and I like "The Math" too)

Spice Girls in New York is coming up! I can't wait!!

Best song off The Duffster's last album: Happy. I've listened to it 8372013823 million times --- which is just 932 times less than my anthem by Britney, Stronger.

This can be your first!

zOMG!

Girls Aloud!!! ::swoon::

They are soooooooooooo very terribly awesome, pushing the whole Spice Girls thing to the next level of fabulousness. Despite having more gold hits than the Spices, few here in the States have heard of Girls Aloud. Oh, how things would be different if *I* ruled the world!! (A Kylie Minogue national anthem would be the first major change, but I digress.)

(They've made at least a dozen videos as well.)

Their song Sexy No No No made it onto three consecutive mixes for me (a never-before-occurance) and was my favorite dancin'-in-the-seat-of-my-car song of year!

The mix (longer & totally ace):

The video (shorter):

Something Kinda Ooooh. Oh yeah. OH YEAH!!! This is like three years old. It sounds like it came out yesterday. (I can't locate my mp3, so you'll have to video it.)

Biology. I was sooooooooooooooooo sure I'd hear this Goldfrapp-ish song on the radio post haste. Yeah, post haste in alternate universe world... Grrrrrrr.

There's more....plenty more. I could drone on-and-on-and-on. Hope some of this makes you chairdance! :-D

Very cool. I listened to the Girls Aloud, and downloaded the Hilary. I really like the track, "Something Kinda Ooooh." Then this evening when I was checking out my new "BBC Radio 1 Established 1967" CD, I noticed that "Girls Aloud is one of the artists on there. They do a cover of the Wheatus song "Teenage Dirtbag."

Let's give the Mel C icon some lovin'! *hugZ*

I adore this song of hers, and the video of her is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqoIJTLAr84

(Full disclosure: I have a penchant/fetish for one-take videos.)

I'm glad you enjoy the Girls "Something Kinda OOooh". That is a great song. They do a bunch of covers as well --- my favorite is Jump.

Awwwww, thanks sweetie! :-D

I covered my mailbox/inbox at work with these glittery, shiny, foil Tink stickers today at work, much to the dismay of my co-workers. Haters! ;-) *hahahaha*
