Right down the road from you is a place called Batteries Plus (near corner of Packard and PLatt). For $5 they will recondition old rechargable batteries. I'd recommend calling them to make sure they do that laptop battery, but I have heard great things about them.

my laptop battery did the same thing, less then 2 yrs old. It was a bummer too, now it has to be plugged in all the time. My laptop is a dell:(

I'm hoping I can get it reconditioned. I'd hate to have to buy another one.
