The Longest Night of the Year.

How are YOU spending it?

Myself, I'm baking breads and later, cookies.
I'll be taking a nice walk and maybe having some sorbet.
Sadly, methinks it'll be too cloudy to find a that little sliver of moon.

There's a cool breeze coming in right now and I can hear the rain through the window.
Sweet.

That stupid door on JK Rowlings website wouldn't open when I clicked it.
Do I need to do something else? I got the title from Leaky Cauldron, but that door continues to thwart me. Maybe it's a Firefox issue? Or a mac thing?
Anyway, the title of the most eagerly awaited book of all time is:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Let the wild speculations begin.

The longest night of the year?

Actually, it might be the shortest for you. But here in the States, we are celebrating the winter solstice, which is the longest night of the year.

To open the door (if I recall correctly):

1) Click the eraser on the desk at jkrowling.com. A new scene will appear.
2) Click the opened door in the mirror, and something will appear.
3) Click the upper middle of the main door; ditto.
4) Click the ceiling in the mirror; ditto.
5) Click the upper spiderweb to vanish it.
6) Click the fourth wind chime to turn it gold.
7) Grab the wind chime (now a key!) and open the main door.
8) Open the present and solve the puzzle that appears.

Festive!

I was inspired to whip up a batch of homemade scented body scrubs and just finished labeling them, but other than that ... nothing really special tonight other than acknowledging it mentally. We have work tomorrow, though it's a half-day, so I can't stay up all night.

I have been thwarted in my plotting to make new special Solstice recipes I've gathered over the past weeks because my dad informed me that the stores were sold out of the ingredients I needed ~ no Brie or cranberries anywhere! So I decided I'll wait till after the whole Xmess thing and make delicious holiday foods for no reason at all other than I want to make 'em!!

Oh ... and I'm glad to know you got the book! I didn't have any time to comment the other day.

I'm spoiler-immune generally, but I think I really do want to be an utter virgin for the last Potter book. Wonder if I can manage that!

Sweet!! That totally worked.
Thank you.

Yeah, you'd think it'd be during harsher, colder weather.

I'm all about celebrating holidays when you get the urge, as opposed to restricting myself to arbitrary observation days. Even though pagan holidays aren't exactly chosen arbitrarily, I still shuffle them around a bit. This year we drank mead the day after the equinox because we were still driving to our sacred space.

The book is awesome. I went to college with the author, so it's high time I own it.

It's gonna be hard to be on the internet and avoid Potter spoilers. Hard, but hopefully not impossible...if we can avoid a leak like last time. ;-[
