And then he said he'd come back here and kill us both if we told.

I've had a fine weekend of relaxing, spending time with friends and doing stuff I've been meaning to catch up on. Yesterday I posted a new chapter, which is reasonably good. And I've been taking lots of notes on the stuff that will need changing, clarifying and punching up in the rewrite. This draft is in serious need of punching up, since a lot of it uses cliche'd language. It's a good story though, and I like the characters.

Today I finished this book, which I enjoyed very much. I love Christopher Moore's endings...so happy and satisfying. More books should have talking bats who wear sunglasses. I'm not sure why they don't. Of course now that I have finished that book, I am free to begin Bad Twin, which I have borrowed in the hopes of unlocking some kind of crazy island Hanso secrets. Or at least, I hope it is not boring.

Had the whole morning to myself today since I was wide awake and H didn't wake up for several hours. That kind of sucked because I like to go to the grocery store before it gets too crowded. Too bad for me. But I did end up making a yummy mostacoli for dinner with a simple and tasty salad.
I also had time to watch Secret Smile which was sent to me a long time ago but that I couldn't find until recently. In the simplest terms, it's a BBC movie where Barty Crouch Jr (or the New Doctor Who if that's your flavor) goes all stalky and crazy on that girl who was Liz in Shaun of the Dead. It was quite good, a very gripping watch with lots of surprises and a really cool ending. Do see it if you get the chance.
The reason I found this disc was that I was searching through every CD in the house trying to find this set of radio dramas I did in college. I voiced this eight part miniseries about some people who die and have a crappy time in purgatory since it's overcrowded and has a mafia. Anyway, I can't find any single copy of it...but I do know that I have made copies of it over the years and given them to people. So if any of you have a copy of DeadLand, please, please get it to me so's I can make a copy.

I was very sad to read the reviews for Lady in the Water. Has anyone seen it? Is it really that bad? The Village got abysmal reviews but I enjoyed it very much. This one though, has a 20% rating, and the "good" reviews are not specific, convincing, or particularly praising.

And finally, JoJo is tearing up our home and belongings worse than ever. How do I chill him out? Is getting him more toys the answer? He's getting into things that could potentially hurt him and I can only catproof so much. Are there any methods that really work to keep him away from certain areas?

Lady in the Water is just fine as long as you remember its "A Bedtime Story" the way its billed. M. Night is always up against it when it comes to movies because everyone wants it to be the next "Sixth Sense". The movie also lacks a big "Twist" so I know reviewers were disappointed. He's stuck being "The twist guy" now.

I hear it's about bears.

That's OK, I'm bringing this movie up north.

I adore that movie. So good.

Really!? I've never met anyone else who's seen it. It's been about 14-15 years since I've seen it, so I'm not even sure if it's actually good.

It's probably been that long since I've seen it, too. But I remember loving it a lot. Just smart and poignant. Not your typical post-apocalyptic flick.

I see. I still think I'm going to wait for a dollar show or maybe a DVD.

What?!?

But no good movie, anywhere, ever, has come out of New Zeeland.

I liked Whale Rider (from NZ.) That same kid was in The New World movie, she grew up to be stunning.

But maybe you were joking...

I remember you doing those radio shows, hope you find them!

THanks for sending me your book, I hope to start reading it soon.

I have no advice for naughty kitties, I have one of my own.

I was, since there are many Lord of the Rings (and Heavenly Creature, for that matter) fans of this journal!

LOL

Somebody must have them, I'll just need to be proactive in seeking them out. I must find them, for I only have a few remaining samples of Mike Fruitman's voice! LOL

In all seriousness, there are some awesome people on those, Jason Morningstar, Mike O'hare, John DeGarmo, Scott Sigler, and me of course.

Then this is the exception that proves the rule.

DO you know what ever happend to Fruitman?

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-07-26 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
??

Not a clue. Last I heard, he was spotted at one of the few All Night Fish Market shows Finster and I didn't go to. I'm told he looked skinny and worn out, but I didn't actually see him so I don't know. He's got rich parents though; I'm sure he's fine. ;-}
