RIP Compuglobalhypermeganet
RIP Compuglobalhypermeganet

Here lies the departed soul of my beloved computer that looks like a toilet seat.

Compuglobalhypermeganet:
we hardly knew ye.

That said, it seems like the whole world is going to hell in a hand basket. Ann Arbor schools locked down due to dangerous gun-toting types; post office shootings, so much craziness. This morning I learned that yet another person I used to know killed himself. This one took a flying leap off the top of that big parking structure downtown. Only 27, the dumbass.

You know how sometimes everything is shitty and you say something like "I can't handle this?" And what you really mean is I dont' want to deal with this or this sucks or I don't fucking deserve this. And all of that may be true. But in the end, it turns out that you really CAN handle whatever "it" was; and you can also handle things ten times worse than "it" if you have to. Life is hard sometimes. Everbody's life is hard sometimes. If you're not in constant pain, you dont get to kill yourself. And if you do, you get none of my sympathy any freaking more. And if you're such a fucktard that you actually take someone else with you...just be glad I don't pay a psychic to channel your ass so's I can kick it.

Here's the thing: If you think life has no meanning, you're doing it wrong.
Next time you think that, ask yourself when's the last time you volunteered to help someone else? When's the last time you walked over a mile somewhere on purpose? When's the last time you laughed at a funny movie or baked cookies for a neighbor you barely know? When's the last time you took any positive step to make your life better? Because that, boys and girls, is how a life becomes meanningful. Yeah, some people routinely fall ass-backwards into happiness and just seem to have a cloud of joy surrounding them at all times no matter what, and the rest of us have to work at it. So get off your asses and find your own happiness people; and if you can't figure out why life is great on your own, drop me a note and I'll tell you. Because if I have to hear about another suicide this week, I won't be able to handle it. (Get it? It's irony)

Oh, and if you feel like buying me a laptop, please Email me privately via LJ. ;-}

Does it have to be a laptop?

[identity profile] gifgal.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, i love how you slip that in at the end :)

rip pretty computer! were you able to save all your stuff from it before it took a dump?

I'm sorry that you lost your computer. That's worlds worse than a piffling power cord.

And, I'm going to print your pst out and make my son read it on a regular basis *wink*

Yes, because I'll likely have to use my same hard drive. Must be laptop. Must be mac.

I am told that my HD is intact and that I'll be able to plug it into H's firewire. I can verify that later tonight. So that is not as bad as it could have been, for serious.

It's a drag, to be sure.
And my NaNo is suffering for it in a big way.
Writing will be much more difficult without a laptop. I'm using H's computer but he's works in a small place not conducive to throwing notes all around. Plus he wont' install MSWord. I dont' even remember what I did before Word.

Well said, Miss Wednesday.

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Why, thanks.

I always appreciate the support.

Excellent rant!

Sorry about the Apple, though.

Thanks.

And yeah, it's a drag.
It's all taken apart now. I'm going to try to put it back together again with the old hard drive. You know...for fun.

[identity profile] madush69.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. I can't help at this time.

Use H's Firewire cable to save your data before you try to reassemble the faulty machine. Seriously.

It's what I do with laptops that die, here...I have a USB cable that plugs directly to the drive, so I can back it all up before attempting some of the more tricky repairs.

That's an excellent suggestion. In fact, I'm not going to try to put it together with my current hard drive. I think it would make more sense to continue using H's computer with my HD.

H and I will make a project of reassembling the old computer with the tiny 3gig HD it came with. So it's no big if we can't do it, but we're going to givve it the ol' college try.

haha, it DOES look like a toilet seat!

Yup.
