Is there a Doctor in the house?

Yes, in fact. H and I just finished watching the first four episodes of the NEW Doctor Who. These eps starred the hot hot hot Christopher Eccleson as The Doctor, and some cute blonde chick as the sidekick. She probably has a name or something...but whatever. If you are a sci-fi geek, I highly reccomend giving these eps a whirl.

They have sort of a Sci-Fi channel feel to them. Everyone is costumey and wierd looking like on Stargate or Farscape. There are special effects so cheap and silly that they make you laugh. But since the show doesn't take itself too seriously, it all works together nicely into a nice parodic vibe. Frankly, I didn't expect it to be so funny. It's totally family appropriate, which is nice. And did I mention that Christopher Eccleson is hot? The lady who plays Rose's mom is cool as well. But Micky the boyfriend is very annoying.

Unhappily though, we got the first four episodes. It ends in the middle of a two-parter.
Very suspenseful.

In other news, I applied for several jobs this week including the one I mentioned at WCC. I'm feeling pretty much ready to get back to work. Not only do I really need the money, but I need to get on some kind of schedule.

Oh, and remember when I said I wanted a powerbook if I was super rich?
I think I might like this instead.
Unless someone knows of why that's not a good idea.

Ah! Yes! Oops!

D'oh! That reminds me I gotta get cracking on the rest of the episodes, dunnit?

I'm glad you like the show!

Ah yes, we both found it most enjoyable. There are so few shows we like to watch together. H and I haven't had a DVd marathon since Smallville came out on DVD.

Of course, we're gonna try this "Firefly" next week.

I've already watched the whole series of the new Dr. Who, and let me tell you ... you're in for a REALLY good time. The whole series is quite good! There's one cameo in one of the later episodes that I think you're going to freak out about -- I know I did.

Wow, that laptop looks pretty spiffy! Only thing I'd suggest is, if you get super rich sometime in the next few days/months... wait for the 2nd generation at least. They'll still have bugs to work out.

But, hell, that's loads better than my poor li'l iBook...

I imagine it would be. I stage managed that play when I was doing my undergrad work. It's an awesome fucking script. Thanks!

Sweet.

Yeah, I can't wait to watch the rest.

Ha!

My ibook now is a '99. I can't even use an ipod with it. I dont' imagine I would ever really get that crazy laptop. it's just too much computer for me. I think a powerbook with an 80 gig HD and a combo drive would make me deleriously happy.

It is awfully slick though.

this is totally unrelated to your post.....

Yob Zombie was in my dream the other nite. He would show up in weird places around the apartment, like he was secretly alive like Chucky. We had a party and someone put him in the toilet, but he was too big to flush down, and no one wanted to pull him out, so he just kind of lived in the toilet from then on.

Oh man...that's crazy.

I have this doll called a Fix-me-Frank (it's a little kid Frankenstien's monster that you can open up and turn little cranks and stuff), and for a while I was quite sure he was getting out to kill people late at night. But then I startd staying up late and realized that the killer was actually me.

So it's funny how that works out sometimes...

I love that Doctor Who. One of my all time favorite Doctors ever

[identity profile] wednes.livejournal.com 2006-01-11 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the acting. The girl was not annoying; it was not overly romantic. The Doctor was suave but not obnoxious considering the kind of power he has.

And while I love C Eccleson, I have to think I'm going to like David Tennant a little bit more.

Hi! I read a comment you made in the Lecterphiles and came over here. How did you all get the new Doctor Who in Michigan? Is it on PBS? I really need to know. I've been to talking to people in England who really liked it and had no idea the episodes made it over here yet.
Love your journal.

Thank you.

As far as I know, they are not showing it here. I was fortunate to have folks on my Flist who send me DVD's of things we don't get around here. Happily, I've also seen Rik Mayall's new series, as well as a few eps of Spaced.

Lj is great that way...
