Andy. Serkis. Is. KONG. !!!.

Okay, so we saw King Kong today. After I complained about stupid, loud, multiple-phone-call-getting theatr patrons, I thought it was pretty good. Lots of cool actiony stuff; and lots of good character stuff. Adrien Brody looked hot Hot HOT. No surprises there. He was also quite moving as the romantic lead.

Good stuff: Kong was sympathetic, scary, and wonderful to look at. Jack Black was a total prick, so that was fun to watch. Actually, everything on the island was great: natives, giant bugs, dinosaurs (although T-Rexi are no longer beleived to be predators), and even the terrain. I would have sworn the orignal Kong had a snake in it, but I guess not because I just watched it recently. Lots of clever nods to the original...and no nods to any other Kong ever.

Problems? Well, yes frankly. There were a few lines from the original Kong that seemed tacked on in relation to the style of dialogue throughout the film. In fact, they stuck out like sore thumbs. And this is just a "me" thing, but Jack Black was such a prick, I wanted to see him consequenced. And he really wasn't, nor did he learn a single damn thing from the experience. Although now that I type this, that may well have been the point.

H got the super-tricked out version of Sin City for his birthday from R and K. So that was cool, and he was delighted with that. He also got a groovy card from Dan and Cathy.

Kassy came by and brought me some cool stuff including the "new" Fiona Apple album, and some Janis Joplin for me to upload. Plus for my (belated but still joyous) birthday she and D gave me the first two seasons of Tales from the Crypt. Damn, I love that show. There are seven whole seasons, too. I can't wait to own all of them.
