That's right bitch, YOU TAKE IT...back for a full refund of the purchase price.

Well I finally beat The Man. K-mart didn't want to take back their possing defective flannel sheets. I wrote and angry Email to the company and they wrote back within 24 hours. Then the store manager called me 2 days later to apologize and tell me of course I can bring the sheets back without a receipt and for a full refund. HA!! That'll teach them to sell crappy merchandise. Or perhaps it won't.

Next up, I thought one of my short stories was going to be in the premiere issue of Clavicle Magazine. But it seems that due to budget and space restraints, I'm being held off until the second issue. That is, however, no reason not to lend them your support as they attempt to get their new enterprise off the ground. And of course, you'll be able to buy the second issue with my short story in it.

I didn't write my NaNo at all last night. I hung out with H and watched cartoons instead. I'm still officially on track but would like to break 15K tonight. I've figured out a bunch of stuff that's going to happen, and most of it is pretty good. I suspect that this novel will be a better one for me to bust out with first. I can save the more personal story for my second publishing effort.

Tomorrow is EMDR and then I'm seeing Kassy because she is great. I also have to prepare my speech for Friday morning when I speak about my mental health/drug treatment experiences at U of M. I'm talking to the Drug Policy class that my therapist teaches about the benefits of integrated treatment. I am now, of course, a huge fan of integrated or "dual diagnosis" treatment, which basically entails treated mental illness and drug addiction at the same time, rather than separately. Since the two are so intertwined, it just makes sense. But it's also expensive and more difficult.

And last but by no measn least, here is a piece by Lj's own Lord Andrei who speaks to some things I find important. And being the guy that he is, it is written in a professional yet direct manner. Do give it a read if you are irked by current politics, economy, or just the general not-giving-a-shit about the people we elect to make our lives better.

I have a friend who would be in need of integrated/dual diagnosis treatment, specifically for opiate addiction...I'm not sure what's available in this area that would be helpful and affordable to him though...

If he is low income or unemployed, it is likely that there is a state or county program he can get into. I am very fortunate as my program is run entirely by women. They are very committed to treating everyone as a whole person and not just an addict, a statistic, or a patient. They also let you stay in the progam if you are using, which is almost unheard of. Most places give you a specified number of slip-ups and then you get booted.

He should probably start with CSTS which I forget what it stands for but it's googleable.

thanks for the info, and I'll see what I can come up with as suggestions for places he can look into...

Community Support and Treatment Services!!
I knew I'd think of it.

It used to be

Community
Mental
Health

or CMH. They love to abbreviate. Saves time. ;-}
