Super Spendy Pants:
I have been having a delightful time shopping for the things I wanted to get when we moved. I got a smallish, cheapish double boiler which will also multi-task as a pair of small saucepans. I needed little pan suitable for heating up a can of soup or veggies. So that was cool.
I found a set of Queen size flannel sheets for only $25!! That was pretty exciting. I also got a Martha Stewart fitted sheet. We really only need fitted sheets since we have plenty of flat ones and plenty of pillowcases. We buy Queen size sheets even though our bed is a full size. They stay on better, I find. I think we should still have a set of jersey sheets, but sheets are so crazy expensive. In fact, this is the first time I have ever bought sheets. All my previous sheets have been gifts or hand-me-downs.
The fun shopping though, was the new clothes I will need for my new professional style job. Granted, I don't have said job yet; but I know I will need clothes for it. So I'm scoping out various Wednes-size online stores to find clearance dress shirts. Happily, I found a few clearance pastels in the men's catalog. Aparently, big men aren't so keen on pink and lavendar shirts. Go figure. I got my new shoes at Meijer: black leather loafers which were $38 on sale. I didn't have to pay for those though, one new outfit to interview in, including shoes is on the state as part of thier larger effort to make me more employable. I had a meeting yesterday which included (among other things) two mock interviews (they said I did awesome) resume workshop and some random job getting strategy brainstorming.
I also managed to get 3 shirts, 2 pair o' pants, 2 dresses and a skirt at Lane Bryant for only $100. So that was pretty damn exciting. And I needed some new makeups as I am out of both pressed powder and 2-way foundation. So I did drop a little money at Avon which ended up being much, much less than I would have spent buying from say, Zia or Whole Foods. Plus I got some of that stick eyeshadow I like, which was on sale at 1/3 it's regular price. Oh, and they had pineapple lip gloss for 49 cents, so you can bet I ordered two of them. And I got a breast cancer awareness nail polish, just because.
I bought H lunch from Mr Spots because we couldn't find a menu for King Shing. He likes ribs. Myself, I can't stand to eat anything that involves sinking my teeth into flesh and tearing it from the bone. I'm not remotely vegetarian, but the whole ripping the animal apart with my teeth is a little much for me. After all, I'm not a zombie...yet.
Almost bought the Stewie DVD, but since I wanted it rather than needed it, I didn't. Has anyone else bought it? And if so, is it as funny as it looks? I have to be really careful with this money, since I need so much stuff to get ready to go back to work and don't want to fuck up my one chance to get everything. That said, the cats really need a better scratching post, so if I find one at a reasonably price, I'm getting it for them.
Tonight is Kassy's bonfire which is going to be a riotous blast.
